Suzuki cancels the Suzuki Kizashi D-segment sedan

Suzuki Kizashi 3

We have another recession casualty here, this time it’s a Suzuki. Joining the ranks of cancelled projects by car manufacturers such as the recent NSX is the upcoming (not anymore, for now!) Suzuki Kizashi D-segment sedan. Despite what seems to be a properly running full production model running around all sorts of terrain and even the Nurburgring, the large sedan has been canned. Suzuki is an expert at doing small cars, and small cars seem to work best in current times. More and more car manufacturers are moving down the segments, so why would Suzuki move up? Good for them for making this decision!

UPDATE: Suzuki executives have denied the report and said the Suzuki Kizashi is not dead, and will be making a production appearance as scheduled at the New York auto show in April.

It’s actually rather strange they wanted to do a D-segment car to begin with. They wanted a slice of Camry and Accord sales in US and Canada. But aren’t they better off doing a C-segment car? It’ll sell better elsewhere too, nowadays people are downsizing anyway.

    I don’t the SX-4 isn’t a C-segment car.

id just like to ask, why not? the result(kizashi) isnt bad at all……..id say theyd be good at doing small, big or super whenever they choose.

Well suzuki is starting to take thier move! This car looks elegant though. Dont know what is the price of this car. I think it should be the same as accord and camry.

It is a great looking car.

Perhaps PROTON should buy over the blueprint, and have their Perdana replacement model eh?

    TheophilusChin, do your stuff please!

its not always true that this d segment is getting smaller.
now its so easy to spot the new honda accord on the road…
every parking lane in shopping centre, you can found 1 parked there. so many of it. even if its not accord, its gonna be camry.

i like the look… but if its in production pun, it will take years for suzuki to bring it here, malaysia. I thnk seems the american economy is doing badly, why don’t the japanese target some south east asia market which does not affected tht much from the economical crysis. hehehe…

    Well, there’s hope yet…

“After a story surfaced yesterday detailing Suzuki’s cancellation of its mid-sized sedan program… Suzuki (North America) spokesman Jeff Holland told Automotive News, “The production version will debut at this year’s New York auto show in April.”
