well…. its something which is far too long run…. I think in 80 years time, petroleum source sure gone…. Untill current research by scientist, they still sayin’ that nothin’ in the world can replace petroleum…. I guess even if we had cars in 80 years time, i dont thik so we’ll have powerful cars with bigger cc cars anymore, like bugatti, all those BMW M5, S500 and so on…. What we would be able to see is that 10 cc or less than 50 cc smart car with a top speed of less than 50 km/h…. Thats what i think…. even with the hydrogen as source, it is identified that it is very very dangerous though the waste product is water bcoz they can cause explotion at certain circumstances….

Letz juz wait and see if we can live another 80 years from now !!!!

I will f**k them off alltogether with their Waja if they ever dare to install such a speed-limit detector in people’s cars in the future …… they better f**k off from our way with their waja ….

to add spice to the story...

Proton was so well advance... they've expanded into military projects.

Mass producing different variant of War Machines to serve the unnecessary War and Destruction. (and they're still heavily subsidized and protected by the government, hohoho).

Amongst them a Very Heavy Mecha Robot - Type Class A Perdana Frontal Assault Transformable Robot Tank - short form CATFAT (equivalent to that Transformers Tank Robot).

Carved on top of the mech's Armour is that familiar "Thunder Cat" emblem... a pride for Malaysia.

Unfortunately, it is still overpriced (due to NAP) although it is a local military gear!

Looks a little socialist to me. If the rich and poor is transported in the same type of vehicle, it'd appear socialist to me. Rich folks will always find ways to differ from the masses hence everything will still be personalised and tailored to indviduality. No such thing as stackable car, or everybody will do this or everybody will ride that, not in an imperialist world.

Societies will differ from one location to another, as well fiancial strength and political power. There will be a noticeable shift though, Malaysia will be the new super power at that time, after we managed to unite East Asia and the Middle East and form a conglomerate that controls major raw materials and emerging new technologies of the world, thanks to Japarea (Japan decided to merge with Korea).

Shall I go on?.. White folks will live in caves, Jews are a paragraph in the history books, blah blah..

I rather not talk what it would be like 80 years from now - that too far out in the future for anyone to pat his own back if his prediction become true.

There is one currently possible development which any car manufacturers can start working on right now. I saw this on Astro actually. It is where the designer removes the engine altogether from the front bonnet and replaces it with 4 smaller electric motor located directly on the wheels. The rims of the wheels becomes the rotor and the stator connects to the suspension systems. This is reversed from conventional motor where the rotating part (rotor) is the inner shaft and the fixed part is the outer casing (stator). An ECU regulates the speed of each individual motors, making it an all wheel drive car.

What’s more important though is this configuration eliminates gearbox, transmission system and all of its moving components complications and maintenance requirement. With proper ECU regulation, there is no need for a separate braking system either. By reversing the polarity, the motor itself effectively becomes the brake. The designer estimated at least 30% in weight reduction and a sizeable amount of efficiency improvement.

So far, the system has been tested in bicycle, (thus turning it into a motorcycle), and on a all terrain vehicle.

It was so simple, elegant and effective. Why haven’t we thought of it before!

but to predict the future is a big picture.. We not ever known eiter the future is good or not.. If good okaylah, if not.. what if it end with more destruction ie, eartquake more often.. tsunami, hurricane everywhere, earth up heat critical due global warming .. bla bla bla none the less.

but... i like to have a 'teleportation' one..
so no need to drive, push a button, zasssss. you already there..
then .. driving a car is just as a hobby. like playing a toy..

I think in order to gauge, what we can achieve in another 80 years to come, is to see the past.....80 years back!!!!!......Now its 2009, 80 years back was 1929. How was it in 1929? and how is it now? back then in 1929 there was lot of war and not much room for development but certain countries in the west and europe had started the industrial revoloution then and development was fantastic. So assuming 80 years ago till now, the development is quite linear and taking into account the technology, and resources that we have now, and again assuming that in 80 years time, the development is not linear anymore, then in 80yrs time we might be looking into something very smart and futuristic. All that i can imagine is vehicles will be something like the Knight Rider vehicle. Advance Artificial Inteligence with self learning neural networks. GPS guided navigation system, which has auto pilot that tracks its (the vehicle position) in real time so it can drive 'itself' and know where its going. Advance body shell and structure that can absorb force like u neva imagine before. Ability to take off vertically and fly a short distance....and many many more....the future really sounds and looks promising but only if the world is still around!!!!

Cheers!

about 80 years from now.. petroleum already long gone. So, the transportation and industrial and power production would be in dark age for years. We will see petrol engines gone for long time, and population might be decreasing to less than wat we seeing today.

expect thing to be more compact... more eco.. uses less energy. not just the vehicle will be smarter, but expect the whole system and even the road to be smarter. there will be a central transport system... instead of individual owned vehicle as we seen today.
