Kia releases renderings of 2010 Sorento XM

Korean based auto maker; Kia which has been giving birth to some excellent vehicle designs lately (thanks to Peter Schreyer) has released two renderings of the 2010 Kia Sorento SUV, code named the XM.

Featuring a front fascia that has hints of the Kia Cerato Forte, the SUV is expected to be powered by a number of motivators including; a 200HP 2.2 litre turbodiesel R engine with 436Nm of torque and a 2.0 turbodiesel which would be capable of 184HP and 392Nm of torque.

It will also receive a number of petrol fueled power plants including a 2.4 litre 4 cylinder engine and a 3.8 litre V6 which is good for 270HP. The most significant improvement is the chassis design. As reported earlier, the 2010 Sorento will part ways with its traditional, or more off-road friendly ladder frame design, and that it will feature a monocoque chassis design which will definitely improve ride comfort as well as handling.

I wonder what else Kia is working on at the moment. The Korean auto maker seems to be at the top of its game in terms of vehicle design. Lets hope that these new generation Kia’s drive as good as they look. Continue reading to view another image of the rear.

2.2 TD giving 200HP is really far out! Hyundai's Sante Fe 2.2 TD only gives 170HP with VGT technology!

with 436Nm of torque and oil burning capability, wonder how would the Harrier 2.4 or even the 3.0 owners will feel when the get passed by one of these excellent TD engines and meeting the same car at the pump station?

Nice exterior design. At a right price this car will be hit coz the Korean marque is getting momentum here in term of design, built quality and engine performance. But again, please Kia don't put this under Naza. Useless after sales services, no ethic and just thinking of profit. This is no joke. This is my true experience.

the new guy, peter schreyer is really revolutionising the design man.

look at the kia spectra and the new forte. totally different.

they must be paying him good bucks for him to stay there and do such a good job.

or the job might be providing him some sort of satisfaction.

whatever it is, good for us!

Malaysians will always buy a T, N or H brand. They don't care about the design, specs or features. Their purchase decisions are often driven to show their friends, colleagues, relatives and neighbours that they've 'Made it in life'. The majority don't know who Peter Schreyer is, nor will they care even if they did know. Once they've bought their T or H, not only will they not regret, but will justify WHY they don't need the specs that they're missing. If you ask them they'll respond that they will only buy a Kia if it's 40-50% less than a Japanese make, even if that sort of price gap is illogical or impossible.

Ppl wanted to buy other brand than T,N & H but salesman always put diff class for other brand furthermore the bank also did it, they put other brand as 'not popular brand' hence higher interest rate for loan…aaarg…hate this. Not to mention used car delaer, they accept other brand at low price.

Why the resale value must be like the japs?

Why don't the G sell to us on the market price since the G like to remind us of the "market" price of other products.

Spare parts? Korean parts are easy to source and are not expensive.

You must be living in a cave for a long time.

Gone are the days korean, itallian, french parts are hard to source.

    it is a globalised world…
