I was just trying to point out that Lotus IS enjoying special pricing in Malaysia.

For rough comparison:
Jaguar XF approx GBP34k in UK, RM489k here.
Lotus Exige S GBP34k in UK, RM339k here.

In UK my friend they have a lot of emission tax, different insurance category and they have different tax compare to us. Besides that, their earning ratio is larger than us. If you work and buy ur car there, for sure you can spend more. As i know that in middle-east & some part of US there are selling it cheaper compare to UK as they have more open market.

Anyway to promote it in our country, since we are some company why not bring here to built & assembly the parts and sell it around our Asean countries. Even Japan tuners like our Lotus and we can even cut the cost down as we have cheaper labour compare to UK?

Starting with WAJA all Proton cars use Lotus technology ride and handling which includes Satria NEO 1.3 (a bargain buy). Proton cars have superior ride and handling compared to the equivalent Japanese and Korean makes.

My friends,

Just check the UK prices of the 3 models I mentioned and then other UK cars and compare to the prices of equivalent cars here.

Malaysian CBU Lotuses are currently enjoying "special" prices already.

i think because Lotus Cars is made in Britain using Lotus plant over there, and imported to Malaysia. That's why it considered as import car even though its own by Malaysian company.. Plus the main objective of this so called national car protection is mainly to develop local supplier.

Like perodua, I think the largest share is own by Daihatsu, but still consider as national car since it fits the purpose, mainly its part is made in Malaysia (except Nautica)

this is what I think la... correct me if i am wrong.
I just wonder why they price Lotus so expensive in Malaysia. Lotus is own by the G & Proton, but they still tax & AP them such like those imported cars..

As a Malaysian own company, i think they should sell it cheaper and let Malaysian have more chance of driving it. Is not logic just to let own people to buy Proton cheap, but lotus expensive to own while both is from same ownership. That why it is hardly to see Lotus on the road..
agree! point well taken!
proton does used lotus efficiently in my opinion... as we can see.. proton's cars ride n handling lately have improved a lot.. and keeps on improving.

it is just that... eventhough lotus is owned by proton 100%.. proton cannot just go to lotus and say that they want this and that just like that...
but still there are lots of technology from lotus that could be utilized FULLY by proton

Lotus Exige S (current model) is already available from Lotus Cars Malaysia. Starting price RM339k. 240bhp and 230Nm upgrade Performance pack is oredi available as an optional extra (comes with the uprated clutch, variable traction and launch control) as are the stated Bilsteins and other hardcore upgrades for track junkies (like myself).

Evora is a GT car weighing over 1200kgs. Exige S is more track oriented only weighs 900+kg. Go figure.

if you want the same target market, then it would be Europa...now that both Elise and Exige is still popular, it still cannot be considered obselete...hence the need to have variants of these models...in addition, they included Evora as an extension of the Lotus family model....
