I think the winner takes all system is quite ridiculous. If there are 17 grand prix and somebody win the first 9 grand prix, then the remaining 8 grand prix will mean nothing to everybody else

It seems that the 'flip flop' word becomes famous...i wonder why...hehe. Hmm, last minutes changes, why FIA don't propose earlier? It should be interesting if Mr Paul can update the F1 results here...or any race events...

IMO think this rule should only apply if the drivers are tied up with the same points after the final race. Then the tie breaker should be decided by the driver with the most wins. If this is still the same, then the number of pole positions in the whole year. If for some magical reasons that it is still tied, it should be the number of fastest laps in the actual race. As a last choice, just do it the old fashion way - flip a coin!

This year will be tough for Hamilton and co. Their cars are not up to speed. Even Brawn GP, a cut and paste car with Honda chassis and Merc custom engines, is going to be the surprise package, going faster than the factory backed team, in practice times.

Whitmarsh says the problems are "chassis-centric" while Haug says it's a lack of downforce. Both men agree it has nothing to do with a lack of engine power from the new Mercedes-Benz powerplant.

"Basically, the car feels good - that is what our drivers say," explained Haug. "However, we are currently definitely not fast enough, not competitive enough to aim for victories."

looking not so good huh? but of coz as one of the top teams they'll be at the front of the grid sooner or later... cheers
aiyahh... anyway Lewis Hamilton will rule!

cheers!
no he won't.. if last year races were used as references then he'll not do well this season... coz if winner take all rules was implemented last year then the 2008 World Champion was not his... plus this year Mp4-24 not doing well in testing... & those MCLaren boys admitted that they have build him a not so good car... I doubt he'll be that dominant with not so good car coz last year, Nico & Vettel (with Hamster powered cars) already proved that they can beat him (which piloted a much superior car)... just forget about Alonso coz experience wise he's far better driver than Lewis... Lewis is (no doubt) a talented & fast driver who is placed in the right car at the right moment... but IMO he's not the best driver out there... must remember, most of the time Nico beat him in races in lower formula before this... i would love to see someday Lewis & Nico in the same team, just to prove i'm wrong.. ;)

They need to make up their mind, forgodsake! (and not play politics)
At 1st they changed the points system from 10-6-4-3-2-1 to 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 because Michael Schumacher was too dominating. Now they wanna award the "winningest" driver takes all.
So what happens when someone dominates again? Theoretically the driver just needs to win 8/9 races and then takes the rest of the season off.
Personally I am fully supportive of the 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 system.
But that's just me
