New 2010 MG6 based on Roewe 550

2010 MG6

The 2010 MG6 was unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2009 recently and is essentially an MG-badged version of the new Roewe 550. It is a larger car than the Roewe N1 Concept also shown at the Chinese autoshow.

2010 MG6

Under the hood will be a turbocharged 1.8 liter Rover K-Series engine. MG calls it a fastback while the Roewe 550 looks more like a sedan, and its styling definitely looks sportier and edgier compared to the Roewe-based alternative. For one, the fact that there is no weird Toyota Venza-like front is a plus point.

Personally, I found the 550 1.8T interior & exterior is better than anything proton have ever come out with. The detail of the interior is stunning. FYI, this car will be marketed in European market soon.

check out the designers background, they’re those from MG Rover days.. but unfortunately the 4 Phoenix doesn’t have much fund to produce those incredible car concepts..

I’m really impress with the looks of this car. I hope chinese automakers will continue in the direction of making beautiful cars. I’ve been most impressed with the Shanghai Autoshow this year because this is a recession year and China is showing that they are still on the way up.

upon closer examination, the similarities are almost there starting from the front until the rear windscreen.

    coincidence? probably not.

    copied? probably is.

looks better than a gen-2? hell, yes!

The China Carmaker is going to over run Proton very soon. The Cap Ayam will feed on the protected species that is Proton.
