Lexus IS 250c goes on sale in Japan!

The drop top version of the Lexus IS 250 aptly called the IS 250c goes on sale in Japan this month. Two models are available – the IS 250c and the IS 250c L which features more equipment. The IS 250c goes for 4,950,000 Yen (RM180k) while the IS 250c L goes for 5,350,000 (RM194k), inclusive of consumption tax.
The IS 250c features a folding 3-part hard top that can go down or up in 20 seconds. The air conditioning system has also been tuned for convertible usage, featuring a special top down mode that adjusts cabin temperature in relation to exterior temperature and the amount of sunlight. Air volume is also adjusted according to vehicle speed. The audio system also makes similiar adjustments to suit the different sound stage that an open top presents.

Unlike the sedan IS which comes in both 250, 350 and IS-F forms, the 1,730kg convertible is only available as a 250c for now. The car’s 2.5 liter 4GR-FSE V6 is mated to a 6-speed Super ECT transmission driving the rear wheels with 215 PS at 6,400rpm and 260Nm of torque at 3,800rpm.

the fellas who called this “rubbish” or “just a glorified camry” are just pesky haters in thier shallow world of conventional wisdom ala bimmer n merc etc……..two very boring things to hear by now IMO.

A quality, reliable, luxury transportation, but still a Lexus. The one and only Toyota that’s exciting to drive is the now-defunct Supra turbo. But of course not everyone is a driver, and for them, this will do just fine.

japan car stillis a japan, look very outdated.

Somehow Lexus managed to make the convertible look worse than the sedan. Just like what they did to the F. If this variant is mechanically identical to the sedan, then it will not be such a pleasure to drive leasurely to show off to the modified protons owners or the mat rempits because the IS is made to be driven fast.

- Get your fact right. Make a research before post. Your statement might hurt someone just like i said your Jag is a glorified Tata, and your Volvo is a overpriced Ford.. In fact they are different in so many ways.. Even the drivetrain, chassis n engine is different so what the hell is you say it’s a glorified Camry? I might agree if you said the design is not so nice compared to its sibling sedan..

No point arguing as car are personal choice. I test drove it 2 days ago and I love the performance and outlook which is the same as my IS250 except back passenger a bit cramp.
Nice effort from Lexus not that I own Lexus as I do own C180 too.
