ETCM’s new Nissan Sylphy tuned by Impul

Impul Sylphy

Edaran Tan Chong Motor brings its “tuned by Impul” model offering up to three with the new Nissan Sylphy tuned by Impul, which will be exhibited at the SIC this weekend in conjunction with Round 4 of the Super GT International Series Malaysia.

Impul Sylphy

The most obvious addition is the aerokit, which consists of a front grille, front and rear lips, side skirts and a rear wing spoiler. The kit also includes an Impul sports suspension kit which lowers the Sylphy by 25mm compared to the standard model, and features uprated shocks and springs. At the rear complementing the rear lip is an Impul Black II muffler with a polished finish. The Impul Sylphy rides on 17 inch Impul Aura SX-10 Black & Polish Finish Alloy Wheels, wrapped with Dunlop Formula D-01 205/45R17 Tyres. On the inside, the seats are wrapped in black leather with matching Impul black mats.

Impul Sylphy

Nissan Sylphy tuned by Impul 2.0 Comfort RM123,900
Nissan Sylphy tuned by Impul 2.0 Luxury RM127,900

The prices above are OTR inclusive of insurance, road tax and misc other fees for the Peninsular Malaysia, and come with a 3-year or 100,000km warranty. That’s actually quite a premium over the regular Sylphy which goes for RM112,800 for the Comfort and RM116,800 for the Luxury. That’s a RM11,100 premium but it doesn’t sound too bad considering you get wheels, an exhaust and the suspension as well.

Those who already own a Sylphy but would like to fit the Impul kit can also do so but of course you won’t be able to package it inside your car hire purchase installment loan.

If the engine also tune by impul, why not. It 10x way more batter than vios dugong TRD sportivo wanebe. The kit + interior + engine tune = RM123,000 OTR are worth it. Batter than vios sportivo that just slap "make up tebal" but engine are same. However if impul just slap also the make up, that not much diffrance than vios dugong sportivo.

The purpose of the bodykit and suspension setup is for a better perceived sporty image on a new car, but if sporty image of a sedan is what we want, we should have considered other make/model eg. lancer GT or Civic. I think the Sylphy design is more suitable for the 'elegance' image.

Love the bodykit but the rims not suit. Better if they put rim the one from latio impuls. Yes, Sylphy is way better than TRD dugong, but they are not in same segment. And i think sylphy is way better than altis.

  • All these so called "tuning" is for looks only, no substance at all. I would rather have a totally standard looking "Q" car with no visible external difference to standard model but with killer upgrade underneath, perhaps with revised suspension geometry, sporty steering rack, uprated brakes, engine, gearbox and additional structure for more rigid body. Now that's what I call real tuning.

    message to edaran TAN CHONG:

nissan has many good car..for example, why would the hell you dun bring in the TEANA to malaysia? the latest version, that car can beat Camry or Accord.. for ppl who used to like nissan cefiro, now where can they upgrade to?? ya, other brand lah…pls.. do your dealership better.. dun just treat it as Family Business!!!!

Hahaha… now got Laupek AhBeng doing upgrade on Lauchim AhLian.

Seriously, TCM needs newer products, 'cos Sylphy should remain a family car. If want ahBeng stylo go for the Latio Sports.

Teana? Pricewise, i think wallop by H.Accord/T.Camry.

If Laupek (i.e. 'mature') want to be sporty, go for Pug 407 or Alfa 158 if can't afford BMW. Why pretend? What can you do with 136hp mated with a cvt?

This new version is OK ma… I like everything except for the front lip. That is way too low, too wide and looks UgLy. Bear in mind, this machine is tuned by the official vendor and u get up-rated spring and absorber. The best part is u get the warranty and u can whack ur suspension as hard as u can. Guys, what is all this ah beng's car? Every car has its own look and beauty. If u r saying Sylphy tuned by Impul looks like ah beng's, then same goes to Civic, Altis, Elantra and Lancer that come with bodykit. Honda City will attracts more people compared to Sylphy because of its exterior look especially the front grille. But do we all know that, Sylphy is many times greater than the City in terms of quality, comfort ride, smooth accelleration, fuel efficiency and its engineering. We can't really compare them cos they r from different class or segment. Anyway, i like the rims. The rear spoiler does not match.

I love my 2008 Sylphy but this new sideskirts by IMPUL look very nice. Can I trade-in my old ones for this? Can I also get a Sylphy steering wheel with a player remote control (like the Spore model) from IMPUL too

I know the look of original Slyphy is not accepted by many people but it's OK to me, I got no chance to see the Impul version yet. I test drove the car, very nice, its comfort level is the toppest among Civic and Altis. I will get one Slyphy for myself but not this version, will wait until facelift come out, really cannot accept the front look (can be improved by changing the Impul one) and the rear drum brake.

i beli sylphy ni sminggu sblum raya puasa last year. stakat ni tak pernah ada problem. i baru buat sound sistem. mmg berat belakang, tapi i dah modified tambah pelapik getah honda kat spring seat blakang, memg mengagumkan sbb time layan corner beter dr biasa. bila buat sound sistem, berat bertambah, power pun lost sikit tapi i setelkan problem ni dengan voltage stabilizer. hehe cun…. minyak pun lg save.. paling best sylphy ni kat alternator dia.memang besar, 140. bagi yang nk tubuhkan sylphy impul club alor star, ni email i [email protected] (bleh kongsi experience @ pendapat)

  • Those making comparisons with the Vios TRD are obviously daft. These 2 models are not even in the same segment. And to those who slate the Altis in favour of this Sylphy, you obviously have not seen the TRD version of the Altis released in Thailand. Far more impressive in terms of aesthetic value. :)

i prefer for the next model of nissan sylphy, there should b a modification, which is disk break for all side, not nly at the front part,ts make its luk low standard if compare than malaysian car..apart from tat,the volume n channel controler should b at steering wheel.i owned sylphy for almost 1yrs,4 me the engine and gear transmision is very very smooth, thumps up 4 tat…ts not a complain from me but lets its b a suggestion frm my side.after i tk sylphy, within 3mths nissan came out wit new GPS system, and wen i col n request for tat, there is no offer price 4me…lastly i would like to tks to all nissan staff especially in butterworth branch…

i see that there r so many -ve comments around. I bet u never drove a sylphy yet. i’ve got this car for almost two years and went through all the reasearch (& tested) with other cars in its category (altis, civic, lancer, mazda3, forte, hyundai avante) before i picked it up. And i’ve also had my share with cars. I’ve owned an accord, civic, volvo, protons wira, waja, gen-2, perodua kancil, and a camry.
None can be compared to this ride. Its economic, powerful AND VERY SPACIOUS. Low to mid range boost, i think its even better than my camry 2.0G.
For the looks, you could always do a custom makeover (i think this car just need a different set of wheels, thats all). So u see guys, its about individual preference…And of course, i’ve got no complaint whatsoever. It a very good car indeed!

I am looking foward to buy this car, what i can i say….i am very impressed by it after the test drive….superb comfort and enough power and response to do anything. Sure, it may not look sporty, but it sure the hell beats City, Altis, Vios, Inspira, Forte and the rest in terms of power, comfort and safety (6 stars Japanese safety rated)…for a price that is cheaper or same as an Altis!

Only Ah beng keeps complaining about looks of the Slyphy and worship fugly modded Myvi and Wira like God.

For those of you who actually never, ever owned and driven a Nissan Sylphy a.k.a Bluebird SSS,or for that matter can’t afford one…the only extra upgrades will be a set of rear disk brakes, and this nissan will be a complete Super Sport Saloon.
I have been driving the Impul version for nearly 2 years and the verdict is…its a damn fine vehicle!!I’ve only upgraded it with Rays Gram Lights 57, 17 inch rims and a set of Bridgestone Potenza Adrenaline 215/45/17, ( yes, that’s right folks, the same tyres used in the legendary GTR-34 ).topping it off with 3M carbon print on the bonnet and roof. When this car appears on your rear view mirror, you better move aside ‘cos whatever comment about it being fugly or blah…blah…blah…does not apply anymore. With those set of Impul suspensions, springs, muffler and Potenzas,it will keep you sticking to the road like cicak-Man on a wet Karak Highway. Its a mid-executive and sports saloon all packed into one.Oh by the way…you want more than 136 bhp for this Impul Sylphy? Why don’t you buy the complete Impul spec engine from Japan and this car will possess 160bhp in no time. Let’s just hope Edaran Tan Chong will have the foresight to bring in a limited number of this Impul-spec engine Nissan Sylphys…and don’t forget the rear disk brakes too.
