New Honda Accord 2.0 VTi-L variant launched!

Honda Accord 2.0 VTi-L

Those who have always wanted an Accord with more equipment but didn’t want to splurge for a 2.4 liter version can now opt for the new Honda Accord 2.0 VTi-L, which adds a leather interior, cruise control, a fully electrically-adjustable 8-way driver’s seat with power lumbar support, leather door lining and door mirrors with turn signals.

Honda expects 40% of Accord buyers to opt for the new Accord 2.0 VTi-L, which means it will account for about 200 units a month. The new 2.0 VTi-L will be priced at RM149,800 OTR with insurance. That’s a RM8k premium over the regular 2.0 VTi, but it is much cheaper than the 2.4 liter model which goes for RM171,800.

Another change to the Accord line-up is the addition of a nice new colour called Taffeta White. When this edition of the Accord was first unveiled in 2007 as an American model, the press photography for the sedan was presented in white and it looked pretty good, so it was a little disappointing that when the Accord was launched in Malaysia in April last year there was no white.

Honda is also offering a new optional accessory called the Connex’ Stolen Vehicle Recovery (SVR) system, which will go for RM3,660 inclusive of installation. It is a GPS and GSM based security system which can communicate the car’s GPS coordinates to a central operating center via the mobile network. The system comes with free first year service fee and a compensation guarantee.

In conjunction with the new Accord launch, Honda is also doing something quite interesting. It will be holding a photography presentation called “The Perfectionist – Presented Exclusively by Accord” for 5 days at the One Utama Shopping Center beginning the 29th of July 2009, and later at venues in JB and Penang. The exhibition combines the Accord and various successful Malaysian personas. A commemorative book with the best photographs of the Accord, the personas and their success stories will be launched there. It should be very interesting for those who are into vehicle photography.

Toyota should follow suit on this with their 2.0E and 2.0G.
Btw, the Camry facelift should be out around August/September.
The new 2.4V should have the start/stop button.

Ya, the rims is so ugly, should change to 2.4 VTi_L rims. I think the 2.4 VTi_L rims is very suit the accord !Unfortunately this update dint include the paddle shift and HID. It pretty good that Accord finally came out with the nice WHITE colour. I want to mention that Jason is wrong, the accord VTi version is only RM141,800.00 is cheaper than Camry 2.0E which goes for RM 144,990.00 and the Accord 2.4 VTi_L is only RM RM171,800 is also cheaper than the Camry 2.4V which goes for RM RM 174,990.00. They should have released this when the original Accord was launched. Can compete directly with Camry.

While on the subject of trims, how come Malaysia cars only can choose from preselected trims? You go to UK/US website of the same car-you can customize the car whichever way you choose it.

    Is it because of cost?

they shoudl have introduced this model at the very begining just like how toyota did with 2.0e, 2.0g and 2.4 v with their camry…

  42. WinterAngeLs said,

    July 16, 2009 @ 2:36 am

The new added color looks great on Accord! A 8K premium over the VTi yet still fitted with ugly rims. At least a better rim design should offer to differentiate between the VTi and the new VTi-L, just my opinion thou since many of us here also complaining about it.

8 ways electronic seat adjustment and lumbar support seems to be a good addition but i think this should be standard in a D-segment sedan since this is their flagship model, even the Camry 2.0E also don’t have it. May be this is a way to cut cost by differentiating their models in terms of equipment level.

    Way to go Honda!

btw, to Anand, i would like to apologise if i had offended you. it was my emotion taking over at that moment. am still in a dilema about Camry 2.0G and this new launch….any advice?
    —————————————————————
It really depends on you yourself. I owned camry 2.0G. I really agree that accord design a lot way better than camry (even though i personally don’t like the rear design). I also already test drove accord before i bought the camry. What can is say is:

DESIGN: accord nicer than camry. somesay accord much sportier but for me I’m looking for overall design. with my car with bodykit fitted, i really like the design. almost perfect even though the 16″ rims is not so nice.

COMFORT: camry better than accord. alot way better.

PERFORMANCE: accord is more poweful than camry, but bear in mind i never felt that camry 2.0 is underpowered (like people said even though camry only have 4 speed compare to accord (5).

STABILITY: i dont know about accord’s stability. For camry, it’s quite stable at high speed. I’ve tried to reach 210 km/h and yet the car is still stable. but cornering is not so great since the suspension sytem was designed more for comfortness.

CABIN NOISE: what can is say camry a a super-duper quite car even though u’re cruising at high speed. Not sure about accord since never tested it at high speed.

INTERIOR: camry with beige interior compare to accord (black). i prefer beige colour as it will give ur car look more spacious than it is. But black is much more elegant and easy to maintain. really depends on individual.

ADD-ON for CAMRY: camry do have HID lights with projector which is very useful for night driving which accord don’t have. engine noise is very low, nice factory fitted bodykit (with extra cost of course but half the price of accord original bodykit if i’m not mistaken. correct me if i’m wrong).

RELIABILITY: for me, personally i think camry (TOYOTA in general) is more reliable than HONDA. i also owned 2003 unser yet still in great tip-top condition. never had any problem with my unser. just of course, 1.8 unser is very undepowered car. but i need it for business. who cares. it’s a very different story about my son’s 2006 1.8 civic. the dashboard started to give rattling sound, same goes with the doors even it’s just a 3 year’s old car with no modification at all. Not to bashing honda, but just to share my personal experience.

by the way, i heard from TOYOTA salesman, camry new factlift will come out to our shores very likely in 4th quarter of this year. not sure about it. if u can wait, i’ll suggest u wait for the new facelift camry and later compare what’s the new camry can offer to us. then u can decide which is best for you.

just get myself Madza6 2.5L after tested the 2.0L and 2.4L camry and accord. Madza6 still is the best car to go….. enjoying with M6. as for accord and camry, they have own niche, but overall Madza6 2.5L for me still better than both.

by the way, the fuel for madza6 is quit close to camry and accord. Now, running at RM100 full tank with 520KM(current petrol price) for me not bad !
