paultan: i know, but currently putting out 320Nm@1400rpm from a 1.8L turbo engine with a 9.5 compression ratio is not possible. Maybe by 2010 they can do it, but i have my doubt. There will be a more significant lag (say compare with the EP6DTS engine). I say 280Nm@ 1600rpm with a 10.5 is more realistically achievable. With a 1.8L with 9.5 compression ratio and 320Nm, you would most probably be looking at about 2,000 ~ 2250rpm at best. But if we were to assume based on fiat bravo engines (with sport mode on 230Nm), it may be as high as 2500rpm and above.

Visited the showroom yesterday , they have limited stocks left so better wait for the new TBI next year . Superb design for the offerings and a far cry from my former 155 TS.

@karl: i'm totally agreed with you. Malaysia are too mean & narrow minded, only stick with TYT-HM-MB-BMW German Japan genre. They never give a damn to true Italia blood.

Why is that surprising, considering it has a turbo and direct injection?

1.8L with 320Nm torque from 1400RPM with a compression ratio of just 9.5? that is either extremely good or just "not-so-honest" figures.

Theopillus Chin:

Try photoshoped 159 with BRERA :
 1-Detached side mirrors
 2-Brera front end air dam

It will look more gorgeous though cannibalized the coupe: but Brera still got sexy butt (they can loan for estate@sportwagon 159).

Let us know if you can do that.

Paul;

Do Alfa need Lotus to perfect their already decent handling? Just for food of thought.

lf the price is RIGHT(read Alfa can't afford to think they're somebody in Toyota-Honda -MB-BMW German-Japan mentality Malaysian). We're really need Naza style Peugeot pricing in order to restore this brand.

I am speechless when l test drove an Alfa 159 last couple of month: for a sub-RM180K it's a steal.

lmagine with the brilliant 1.8T engine! Perhaps Proton can do Naza here, anyone? Sime Darby pricing not smart enough as they have BMW under their common roof.

For me majority prospect need rather fairer learning curve before they can embarked on this full soul ltalian babe. After reliability, quality is near both Teutonic or Japan then premium pricing maybe acceptable.

Confusing? Not even Japanese Mazda6 with brilliant handling than Accord not well received by Japanese-fan. What a luxuriously overrated Toyota-Honda can enjoy?

I'll embrace Alfa once they're proven in term of reliability.
