All-new Hyundai Sonata is a “4 door coupe”

Hyundai Sonata

Official sketches of the new Hyundai Sonata has been released by the Korean company and the car is expected to make its official debut in Korea on the 10th of September.

With a roofline that looks like it was inspired by the likes of the Passat CC and the one that started it all – the CLS, it definitely distances itself from the generic looks of the current generation Sonata with an all-new look that employs plenty of curves and ‘flame-surfacing-esque’ creases.

Hyundai Sonata

So okay, these are just sketches and its easy to make a sketch look good. There are actually some photos leaked of the Sonata in the metal that have made their way out onto the internet. Look after the jump for how the actual car looks like.

beautiful car indeed. I think korean really work hard to get it design cue right this time. Both Hyundai and Kia really matured into a competitive brand. Next I see is emerging China car design and manufacturing. Some of them really have a good design car and only lack built quality. In no time I believe they will be as good as their Japanese or even german counterpart.

I hope, I really hope Proton would follow suit. Do not stingy to invest into their design department. Engineering and manufacturing alone is not enough to built a good car if they cannot produce an aesthetically beautiful and functional car. yes beautiful is subjective but knock it right and you will have a beautiful car that can sell well internationally. Do you prefer Saga or Hyundai Accent/Kia Rio in terms of design? if so why?

  13. Paul Tan said,

    September 2, 2009 @ 6:57 pm

In terms of exterior design, I prefer the Saga to be honest.

You have to look at the cars he compared it with. The Hyundais he mentioned are of the “older generation” where their design still abit “play safe” or sesat abit. The new Korean cars are fantastic! I love the Forte!

  17. KS said,

    September 2, 2009 @ 7:47 pm

Ofcos i drove korean cars before . 5 of them to be exact. But may b as what paul said, the new cars r much better than those i drove.

hey, at least the saga provides a decent around view for the back passenger.
i bet you can see almost nothing sitting at the back of this hyundai. makes me feel car sick.

Despite good effort from Hyundai, people here still would buy T & H badges.

  24. Rhys Miller said,

    September 2, 2009 @ 8:38 pm

People continuing to buy T & H badges without considering what other alternative brands are out there and what they can offer tends to show the maturity of the people. When you go to even lesser developed markets .. its even more prevalent ..

    Hope Proton to follow suit…..?
Maybe just a hope la… for now.
Proton is now VERY HEAVILY depands on Japan & Korean technology, thus supplier, developing its new models.
Friends, do you think that those foreign suppliers would HELP Proton built cars with their heart & soul?
For me, don’t dream la! No other NATION in this world would help other nation build an industry that later, kill their own.
So, my opinion is that whatever the obstacles and no matter how hard we have to learn, we have to build cars on our own.
So watch out and please learn Proton!
If not, than better let yourself go, otherwise you are just burdening the nation as it is now.

Hyundai factors are cheap price(well for Singapore at least),They even overtook Toyota for a moment due to their harakiri style of price slashing.Interor and exterior is almost on par with Jap but not for performance.Only a handful of their models is superb while others Proton are much better
