Yep, i thought that too but i looked closely. XK's side body line is very similar to that of the old e-type, certain elements of the design of the front and rear lights also look similar to e-type. XF design follows design cues from the Mark 2 Jag. the bulges on the headlights, the raised bonnet from the grill going back to the door pillars and the single line running from the bottom of the front bumper running along the side to the back. Its modern interpretation of design. It works for some and not for some, as everyone has different tastes

Lotus can never come out with a SUV and nor can Jaguar. Its not their speciality to come out with such rubbish. BMW, Merc and Porsche came out with SUV's becuase they are market driven to grab a peice of the pie. To be honest the looks are horrible and too similar to other models but end of the day it works for them, as part of their design methodolgy i.e. the double grill, quad headlights, huge horsepowers, etc. Jaguar's design medthodolgy is beautiful Luxury fast cars. In the past Jag's only 2 attempts at estates were the XJ estate and the X-Type. One thing you have to understand is that Jaguar was hit by British Leyland and Ford's way of doing business which didn't work and as a result their reputation got damaged. However, when you buy a Jag you have something that is "exclusively" British, British designed, British built, and a Welsh built engine. Only thing missing is Irish racing green, and a Scottish Tartan interior . Merc and BMW are ok, engineering wise you can't even question them but British and Italian cars have a certain flare you just don't get from German cars. Sir William Lyon wanted a car to have soul and depth in its design, as if it was real and alive and i think those who want heritage, class and a real sense of thought in the design of a car would go for a Jaguar. I know those who have bought only Merc's, BMW's and Audi's but never wanted to buy a Jag have only gone and bought the new Jag XK or XF and said their level of customer service is out of this world, something the German makers cannot match in a million years, some have even bought another one after their 1st Jag and are not disappointed! Thier reliablity is 2nd to Lexus but having said that you may get the odd badly made one which is the same for BMW and Merc but Jag's level of customer service from dealer and Coventry HQ takes care of that without you having to hint that this is a duff car, can i have another one? Jaguar are coming to age now from their retro design and what is coming out of Jagaur HQ will get the German Car makers worried and one thing i like is every Jag model is different to each other in design and look and feel. I like Heritage and class over huge horsepower, but one thing the Jaguar XF does is leave the German eqv cars in its range feeling cold, sub-standard and far too geeky whereas the Jag follows a typical British way of design and that is "keep it simple". The only car left to work on is a all new X-type based on the XFC concept, it would be a huge success! Alfa Romeo's are very unreliable but it's cars do make your head turn

TC's photo-shopping abilities is quite amazing. The 'Catwagon' as PT eloquently put it looks superb and honestly for the moment there I thought Jaguar actually came out with the estate version of the XF !!!.
