The Ford Focus BEV is a prototype zero emissions full electric vehicle, using the Focus as the base. The electric drive systems were supplied by Magna, and previews a future production car based on the next generation global C-segment Focus platform.
For now, a total of 15 Focus BEVs will be built and evaluated day to day in Europe to see if it is suitable for European road and driving conditions. The electric drive system uses a lithium ion battery with a capacity of 23kWh powering a chassis-mounted 100kW electric motor with 320Nm of torque.
This will give the Focus BEV a range of about 120km, which should be enough to get you to work and back in time for you to charge up again at night. Charging is expected to take between 6 to 8 hours using a regular 230V wall socket – no quick-charge figures were provided.

As much torque as some turbo diesel trucks!
sebijik mcm kuga….anyway same platform
They need to bring the charging time down to minutes for it to work
Is the battery expensice?
not worth using this kind of technology… I think we need to wait for 5 years and above before we can use user friendly electric car…
Good one Ford ,
please come out with some really reasonably prices for this BEV and I will get one but its better to have a fast charge feature for the batt.
just wandering, when the battery is about to get flat (lets say the last 30 mins), will the perfomance will also degrade (getting slow etc)? Just like the other battery operated remote cars
Great!! but, is the battery expensice? How is the performance when the battery is about to get flat?
hope the future improvement can bring the electric to a range of 250km per charge. Well suited for a marketer.
The car itself is a perfect car for the environment plus it looks and seems to performe quite well for an electric car. But for the same reason i cannot order one of these or any other electric powered cars i simply cannot afford it. When the prices come down i am sure they will fly out onto the roads until then they are just a good idea.
