same size as previous 86?

i think it should be highly tunable since the previous one was, and this supposedly capitalizes on the old 86.

so we can probably see takumi's dad tune this car to optimum and see him race in it in Initial D Stage 7. lol.

Engine wise, as long as Subaru can produce the 2.0L NA engine at least 100hp per liter like Honda's VTEC/i-VTEC. It's fine for me.

And one thing, if UMW Toyota in future brings in this model, PLEASE be honest and fair with car enthusiasts. I'm really fed up with its marketing tricks & tactics.

Soul or no soul, hybrid and fuel cell are the future man. I heard a man complaining his Lancer GT is thirsty. But seriously, If you drive this kind of car and upward, don't bother about the fuel. Otherwise drive a viva. Think grey importers are gearing up for this one.

I heard from a mate it japan (need verification) that the AE86 hardcore fans there specifically requested that the cars spiritual successor avoid becoming too "green" bearing techs like hybrids, fuel cells etc. They want the soul of the car to be intact.

Naruhoto… hachi roku would directly translate as 'eight six'. Eighty six would be 'hachi jyu roku'

droll : I think Toyota/Lexus is the only one doing so… most other Japs also makes green tech, especially Honda. Really sad that NSX is cancelled/delayed much longer, and Honda's been churning out is more and more electric/fuel-cell concepts…

To keep the soul of the Ae86, we would expect this car to be highly "tunable" and a more accessible car. Japs describe the old 86 as the "poor mans" sports car. I kinda like that description. I hope to get one if it comes to our land.

i cant imagine the 86 with black n white with wattanabe or black racing 17/18 inch rims to ressemble the AE86 trueno/levin…. wonder who will do that…guess gotta wait till 2010 Tokyo Autosalon…….

wonder it the ft86 is like driving a rwd GC8 imprezza high revving n/a

Don't think it's gonna be a Celica replacement..it's a AE86 replacement as with the Hachiroku name's suggested.

while the rest of europe is going green and producing sedate cars, japan seems to be going in the opposite direction by reviving old icons! hmmmmmmm……nevertheless, this car looks promising. i just wonder how much of what we see today will make it into the final car.

The ZZT231 powered by a higher-performance 1.8 L 4-cylinder used in Celica can produce 191 hp (as referred in Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Celica).

I believe 2.0 liter D-4S boxer engine that is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission can produced more than what speculators expected.

The problem is, 86 is suppose to be a simple, affordable, fun, rear wheel drive, What i call a Family coupe.

This is so, futuristic, sexy. It cant see any of the 86 element in it.
