New BMW M3 GTS with larger 4.4L V8

bmwm3gts11

After launching a twin pair of turbocharge M SUVs with automatic transmissions, BMW M has gone back to its roots with a new car called the BMW M3 GTS, which it says has pure M genes. The specs list certain looks pretty drool-worthy, the kind that gets you excited even thinking about it.

See, the M3 is a fast car. It’s a really, really fast car, especially once the high-revving V8 gets up to its prime revolutions, you get kicked back into your seat quite violently and the engine screams along to extract a peak of 414hp from its 4.0 litres of capacity. But that’s not enough for the GTS – BMW has upped the displacement from 4.0 litres to 4.4 litres, so the engine makes 450 horses now, mated to a 7-speed M DCT twin clutch transmission with remapped transmission logic.

bmwm3gts12

BMW has dropped some weight here and there from various parts of the car, including the use of lighter seats, a titanium rear silencer, removal of the air conditioning system (like the E46 M3 CSL), etc. BMW has also added rollover protection mounts at the B-column, a fire extinguisher, and a battery master emergency shut-off switch which shows the car’s true race intentions, as if the large rear wing wasn’t enough.

The large wing is functional, as is the adjustable front splitter. While the car is moving, the pressure which builds up in front of the vehicle above the panel of the front splitter which is parallel to the ground is much greater than in the free stream of air below it. This creates downforce.

No doubt many were disappointed when BMW announced they were not going to make a new CSL but they certainly made up for it with this new GTS. The price of the M3 GTS is expected to be 115,000 Euros in Germany, including 19% VAT. The cars will be built to order and the first will roll out in May 2010. It will initially only be available in Germany but other countries will be possible from summer 2010 onwards.

Maybe BMW is pissed cause MB C Class C63 is brutally faster.

I was happily reading this post.

    Until this !%!@#!@ mentioned P1.

Quit reminding us of the sad state we're living in.

    TYVM.

    Spoiler – fail.

    Color – Epic fail.

Scrapped the back seat for? a fire extinguisher, i thought it was mid engine for 2 seconds.

    The long-ness reduced its sportiness.

  • BMW is getting boring…

They overcook (for too long) the Chris Bangle fascia (front face).

There's no 'prominent distinguishable' fascia across the ranges. You would anticipate getting a unique design on top of the performance once paying

something just shy of a million.

Apparently Mitsu also when to the dark side by implementing almost every

line-up with the 'shark facia' which u can see on the Evo X.

I loud the direction taken by the VW for their range of models especially

with the latest Scirocco. When they soft launch the Scirocco I were guessing

the 2.0L will falls into the 300k bracket… because the design alone is worth

it, but at 240K, though still expensive, but still manageable.

Thus we feel worth it spending that amount for a unique & distinguishable design, on top of what's under the hood.

"Nice but the wing shouldnt be there!"

This is a GTS, intended for racing. That's why it is fitted with a rollcage and fire extinguisher ex works. They have to build and sell some, otherwise they cannot start in that racing series.

Not a good choice for everydays use… ;)

i like the rollcage…i think it should be in everyday's car. it can save lives, and your hand. saw someone who got into an accident lost his hand due to a crush, kinda freaky.

BMW M3 GTS. By the name we know it built for GT purpose… So if someone want to feel the GT ride, so can waste money to buy this racing machine. :)

i hope in the near future, every car is fitted with roll cage as standard feature, this can save many lives, but just make sure that the roll cage designed is friendly for people to get in and out of the car..

if they can do a pop-up rear wing is better (the one that comes out only after achieving certain speed), looks more elegant and classy.. suits better with bmw image i reckons.

this orange color not good on bmw la.. they should use their signature white with blue/red stripe.. that's better!

Hah our previous boss knows nothing about cars. All he cares is how much money that goes into his pocket, thats why he is the no. 1 person against the sale of proton even to DRB-Hicom and Naza which are actually local companies.

It would be better for Proton to fall on Naza's hand as there are visionaries there. Look what have they done to peugeot??? 308 cheaper than a perdana,, now thats a achievement.. Proton will never be like BMW not within this century at least unless they let go the illusion of control and sell the group to someone who knows cars better like VW.

  • Car that built by rich man request, might as well sell as limited run. Put up big premium on it should make it more exclusive. perfect track day toy.

Some people just can't get over the fact that you can't simply get a despatch to make him/her a CEO of muilti-billion company over night, this is not movie, this is reality fact.

just leave that sick topic out of here will you guys?

  • Why do people whine about this car? The color? Its just to show it off here, and yes its hideous. This is a track car that you can drive to the track. It is not meant to be a daily driver, it does not need A/C. Nobody is spending 200k USD on an M3 to daily drive it unless they're oil rich (and stupid). Trackable cars are expensive. The factory race car (i.e. non street legal) is yet more expensive, and in fact has two tiers depending on the engine P65/S65, and many other factors.

Also to the 'fully modded Nissan GTR' guy. Congrats. Your 4WD super traction computer robo car can 'take this'. Now lets see which racing league the Nissan GTR is in. Oh thats right, pretty much none outside of Japan. Funny too, cause even considering that, the racing GTR is a RWD v8 too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_GT-R#Motorspo… Probably because motorsports are about skills, and 4WD torque vectoring traction con-rape is about wannabe boy racers.

Yea eat rice mu_77, enjoy driving your beater Civic or Mitsubishi or whatever it is you drive.
