For throttle delay there are e-throttle signal modifier (there are a few brands, look for it in Hyper tune magazine) that can be set to sport, normal and eco mode. In sport mode it will modify the signal to cheat the ECU. Example: It “inform” the ecu that the throttle opening at 50% while the throttle position is actually less than 50%. There upon the ECU tell the injector to inject more fuel thus you felt that throttle respond is faster. You guys need to check if it can be used by Alza.

I myself near bought a Alza after 12 years driving a wira. Buy end up buying 1.6A livina.

Sebagai rakyat Malaysia yang merdeka, sudah tentulah I LOVE MALAYSIA, tapi nak bagi pandangan tentang ALZA. Bolehkah Perodua menukar bentuk di bahagian belakang kete, sedikit macam wish, bagi ruang simpan barang besar. Harga pun agak mahal, perlukan penurunan bagi rakyat selesa.

ok la tu… My housemate is a mechanic at some tuning workshop at damansara.. and he told me that mivec 1.6 have 172 hp from dyno test that he do.. so, I think diff 2 hp is acceptable coz not all off that mivec engine will give you 174hp right?? some will give you 174, some will give you 172 while the other one will give you 175hp…

IMHO, accent is slow for you because the car body is heavy. Proton is make like milo tin (very light).. so any engine also can be powerful for proton.. because the car is very light and can fly. For me, i’m not trying to compare accent with other cars.. I’m trying to know about the p2 gearbox..that’s all.. becoz I don’t like the kickdown delay for p2 auto.. hope you all understand after i repeat this so many times.

Of coz 4G92 can easily beat the accent coz But 4G92 is best known of its high-performance MIVEC equipped DOHC version, which fully replaced “ordinary” DOHC in 1993. Power output raised as high as 172 hp (128 kW), as found in the Mirage Cyborg-ZR and JDM ’92 Lancer MR, making it one of the most powerful 1.6 L N/A engines. No doubt it cam easily smoke other car in 1.5. It is not fair to compare that doch high performance engine with soch… Coz it is one of the most powerful 1.6 L N/A engines.

the myvi i talked about is Myvi Se auto. The acceleration is good enough for 1.3 car… I also going to test drive Alza before.. But they only have manual version for us to try… My friend is driving, i’m just a passenger.. And he say the acceleration for 1.5 manual alza is pretty good… not bad.. coz it was an 6 seater.. Seriously i think Accent pickup and also the delay time is slow… I don;t know about 1.6 car you talked about… Did you mean Vios 1.6??? Did they have 1.6 version for that car??? I thought they were 1.5… But i’am familiar with continental cars(Peugeot,citroen,renault, etc).. but i also familiar with Honda Jazz v-tec auto coz my housemate used to have that car… I like Honda jazz acceleration, much more faster than Accent, and, yes… i think accent is slow, coz 1.4 car from europe manufacturer can easily beat korean and jap 1.6 car… And , maybe you are right about accent is better than Vios… coz i don;t know much about korean and japanese car(but my first car is Nissan sunny 1.3, and i still keep that car with me)… i spent most of my time driving in conti car and proton car… Seriously, waja,gen2 and persona can easyly beat accent… May be accent acceleration is not bad…. Maybe only i feel like accent is very slow coz i’m using 2.0 car… so when i try smaller car, i felt that it was slow… But i like campro cps acceleration….

1) I wasn’t rude. When I said ‘ I think you’re really lost’.. I honestly feel so.. It’s an honest opinion. (I’m entitled to my own opinions). I feel you’re going out of topic.

Are you lost in the conversation? No one was ever talking about a campro engine. Do you know what is a hyundai accent? Why are you talking about campro? I was comparing my hyundai accent 1.5 with a vios 1.6. FYI, I hate campro engine.. I think you’re really lost.

Anyway, that is not important. What’s important is I want feedback from manual and auto alza users.. but no one is giving me any meaningful or useful feedback. I just want to know how good or bad is the gears (manual and auto) of the alza. Thank you and I appreciate an accurate answer or feedback!

To me, the accent gear changes are very quick.. and the 1.5 sohc beat the 1.6 dohc flat..

(I disagree, beat in terms of what? FC? Acceleration? torque? is it the same manufacturer of engine? im using wira Mitsu 4G92 Dohc, and i can say it is faster than campro engine, even its 4G91 Engine can beat campro engine easily cause 113 HP compared to campro 110 HP)

You didn’t state whether the myvi you drove is auto or manual.. maybe i’m not talking about the acceleration power, rather i’m talking about the delay before acceleration begins if you get what i mean. I’m talking about throttle lag here.

Well you’re entitled to your own opinions and experiences.. but i don’t find any acceleration problems with the accent. The car body is indeed a bit more heavy.. but I did raced with a Vios before, to be frank, the car performed very well.. but maybe the Vios guy didn’t floor his accelerator.. To me, the accent gear changes are very quick.. and the 1.5 sohc beat the 1.6 dohc flat.. to me, i would thank the gears for maximizing the power of the engine.,

While I don’t doubt the power output of the myvi or alza engine.. I doubt the gear response.. i’m still making a decision to go auto or manual. Of course i’m not using the car to race, but I’m just looking at response point of view..whether the car will actually do what you want it to do.. that’s all.. and I have yet to hear from real alza owners! come on.. auto or manual better?

Hurm.. Dunno what to say.. Coz for me, Accent is very slow… The acceleration is very sad.. I need to off the air-cond to take over a trailer.. That is why i don’t like auto car… I think acceleration for myvi is enough… And for gen2 and Waja, the acceleration is pretty good…

The reason for my concern is.. I’ve driven my friend’s myvi auto before.. and when you kickdown the accelarator, it takes half a second before the gear change and car speed up.. I heard this delay is caused by the e-throttle system found in all p1 and p2 national cars.. When I drive my parents’ hyundai accent, the kickdown is much faster.. and I think not more than quarter of a second delay when you kickdown.. I get quite annoyed with the half second lag found in perodua’s auto gearbox. I personally feel it is dangerous because when you suddenly need to speed out of a dangerous situation, the gearbox isn’t responsive enough.. i thought manual will be better..but my friend told me that it is the same because of the e-throttle irregardless whether it is manual or auto.. he advised me to go auto because of the lag.. the delay in acceleration might cause engine to die when u release clutch for manual.. i also read reviews that the manual gear changes feels rubbery and also the clutch doesn’t seem to have a biting point.. so manual and auto users, pls give me your feedback so that i can make a better decision.. I only want comments from real Alza auto and manual owners!

My opinion is :

1. If ur concern about the lag (Lag or delay?), better take auto coz P2 is famos with responsive throttle.

2. If ur concern about the FC, better take manual, P2 is not so save when using auto.

i think this page is filled with ppl paid to bash P2.. and ppl paid to defend P2.. so u guys should have your own opinions instead of listening to all the crap above.

I’m more interested to know if one will go for the Auto or Manual alza.. i’m quite concerned about throttle lag and also gear quality.. i’m not quite keen on perodua’s auto gearbox.. however i heard the throttle lag will make someone choose auto coz manual shifting is annoying.. opinions?

You better think twice before buying…. there is an unpleasant “kung” noise when turn on the air con…..i reported it….and the authorized air con dealer said it is normal….wat kind of bullshit lies is that….? Hve you ever heard such noise in other cars…other brands? No…none !!!

memang menyesal membeli p2 alza coz apabila pandu kereta ini,banyak bunyi di dalam,”kit kat kit kat”,macam pandu kereta second hand saja
hantar ke service,pagi pukul 8.30am tunggu sampai 1pm,masalah masih ada,servis center cakap nak tinggal kereta for 2 day for checking,after 2 days,bunyi dalam kereta masih ada…..rm62k beli kereta macam ini,betul betul rasa marah……
lain kali beli kereta,bukan saja nak timbangkan harga,qualiti,juga nak timbangkan after sales service…..
bukan tak nak sokong buatan malaysia,tapi betul betul tak layak untuk disokong

Thanks Paul for the good review. Have just booked an Alza 1.5 Auto Std – Metallic Grey. Correct me if I’m wrong but my aunt is driving a Proton Exora and she is complaining that it is under-powered. She thinks it is due to the 1.6 Engine and also because Exora is heavy in weight. That’s the reason for me to opt for an Alza and also b’coz of it’s turning radius which is similar to a myvi.
