Goodyear Malaysian and ESPN Star Sports have launched the all-new Goodyear Formula DRIFT Malaysia, scheduled to be held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang on the 19th to 20th December 2009. Formula DRIFT has been a huge success in Singapore so far and now we finally have it on our local soils. The Malaysian leg of the series will be the finale in a three-part Formula DRIFT series, which started in Singapore and then went to Bangkok earlier this month.

The Goodyear Formula DRIFT Malaysia event will see over 50 competitive drifters from across the Asia-Pacific region compete to see who has the ability to execute the perfect drift over and over again. Goodyear is entering a team themselves, comprising of Azrina Jane Abdullah (also known as Jane Cheaka), Ariff Johanis, Michael Gan and Johan Norman. Malaysia has quite a decent number of good drifters, but it’s usually only Tengku Djan that gets the most exposure. So this will be a good opportunity to check out who else is in the scene.

These advancements have been incorporated in our products that you see in retail today, such as the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, Goodyear Assurance and Goodyear Wrangler,” said Goodyear managing director Nasution Abdul Rahman.

All Goodyear Racing Team drift cars will be equipped with Goodyear’s Eagle RS Sport and Eagle Revspec RS-02 tyres. According to Goodyear, these tyres from the performance-oriented Eagle range provide the required traction and response needed to properly control a drift with the correct lines and angles. I personally am trying to get a set of Eagles for a review soon.
