New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Convertible: first looks

E-Class Cabriolet

The E-Class Sedan and Coupe has been released for over half a year and have just made their way into Malaysia late last month. The E-Class Coupe is a name that we’ve not seen for some time now and it replaces the CLK in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. The CLK had a drop top version so it was only sooner or later that this new E-Class Cabriolet made its debut into the automotive world.

E-Class Cabriolet

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet keeps a soft top instead of moving to one of those new hard top roofs that most automakers are going for these days. There’s a system in place called the AirCap which is basically a spoiler at the windshield that helps direct air over the passenger cabin so you won’t mess up your hair. Mercedes-Benz claims that the AirCap protects the hairstyle of rear passengers as well as the front ones.

Whatever it is, this baby ain’t going to be cheap once it is launched here in Malaysia. The E 250 CGI coupe already goes for a scary RM 458,888 price tag here in Malaysia, and the more powerful E 350 coupe goes for RM 666,888. An entry level cabriolet could possibly breach the half a million ringgit mark!

Look after the jump for a gallery and 2 videos of the E-Class cabrio.

As far as the pricing structure is concerned, Mercedes-Benz is now very expensive cars to buy in Malaysia that it borders on the ridiculous. Like Paul said, the new E-Class variant has a scary price tag to it.

I feel that those who are thinking of buying an E-Class to instead go for Audi models. Audi cars are better built, more refined and most important of all, cheaper.

Its a handsome car, but only with the AMG sport package, the rims and bumpers… if not it'll look a bit gay ,

Its a handsome car, much better lookin then the precious clk compressor which shaped like a banana…,

if a merc cabriolet is ur theng, then go ahead, a california is too expensive, a cheaper MX-5 is more fun and the new Z4 is a hell alot sexier though…

but if really have the cash, spend it on a maserati grancabrio if you really2 want a seat for 4

The E 200 CGI sedan has not been launched yet, that's probably why we feel the new E is so expensive. It'll probably come in at about RM360k?

The dash looks too complicated. And somehow, a cloth rooftop doesn't seem to be in keeping with the times. Everyone's going the way of collapsible hard roofs these days. Even though there is a weight disadvantage, it's way more practical. And those daytime running lights, that look like hockey sticks, just seems like an after-thought, not a design element that grew organically from the rest of the car. Just seems to be something you can buy from Brothers.
