CONFIRMED: Michael Schumacher signs for Mercedes GP!

CONFIRMED: Michael Schumacher signs for Mercedes GP!

Word that seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher will make his Formula 1 comeback via Mercedes GP has been circulating for quite some time, but he has finally signed for the Silver Arrows, according to an AFP report which quotes Bild.de.

The report says that Schumacher, who will turn 41 in January, signed a one-year deal for the 2010 season worth seven million euros, adding that the contract was signed on Tuesday at Mercedes’ headquarters in Brackley, England.

Schumi, who retired in 2006, will join compatriot Nico Rosberg in an all-German line-up for Mercedes GP Petronas Formula One Team. He will also be reunited with Ross Brawn, the mastermind behind his seven titles at Ferrari and Benetton. Michael has competed in 250 Grand Prix races, winning 91 of them, and started in pole on 68 occasions.

UPDATE: It’s official! Mercedes GP has unveiled their star driver at its Brackley HQ. About the condition of his neck, Schumacher has this to say: “It wasn’t OK in the summer, but it’s had the time to heal completely, there is no further issue with the neck – 100%,” he told BBC.

Poor Petronas. They work like crazy even in F1 just to make profit. But then gomen simply take the money and build nonsense here and there. And there are 4 collapses in Terengganu, the land of Petronas.

Yo Mr PM, You cheer for Mercedes-Petronas or Lotus-1Malaysia?

Would be an interesting season after all the doom and gloom befelling F1 recently.

German F1 Team vs British F1 Team.

3 World Champions going at it.

Now, if only Renault will join in with Sebastian Loeb and Sebastian Bourdais…

for a French team and Toyota had they not pulled out seating Kobayashi and Nakajima.

Petronas indeed made the biggest coup ever. Who would be able to imagine Schumy wearing Petronas coverall? And I'm pretty sure the Meet & Greet for Malaysian GP will be a long one. After all, he only signed for one year (2010). This is once in a lifetime.

Unfortunately I'm not in Malaysia. If only you guys back in Malaysia know how lucky you are to be able to see The Great Schumy with Petronas jersey. A sight to behold. Beautiful combination!!!

Thanks Petronas for making Schumy "one of us".

Now Petronas will shows the biggest ROI in F1.

Instead of a team in a position which may not able to be seen on TV of Lotus F1, now, Petronas sure bring them in the international stage with Schumi and Merc.

You think Petronas will sign with Merc if they dont know Shumi is on? Common, if I am Merc, I would be using Schumi to lure Petronas on board!

Now I wanted to see the next F1 in Malaysia…how Petronas host Schumi!

As for Lotus F1…HAHAHA…poor Tony….being con big time this round..AirAsia will host Lotus F1 I guess with no choice. If I am Tony, I will bring Naza in! Earn so much never pay back to the country! oops, I forget, Naza got no value in international stage…hahaha….they only eat, i mean earn money, but no put back to the public or country.

F1 in Malaysia next year will be big.

Dah pencen, pencen je la… buat pe nak masuk lagi. U are already a legend! What is ur motive to come back in this arena? Ye la, mmg la good ROI for Petronas… tapi ape je yg dapat. Branding je… aku tak yakin dia gune minyak Syntium dalam F1 car tu… Petronas kene pegi lebey daripada branding je… in term of R&D, new product, penetrate new market, etc. Aku tahu Petronas mesti ada strategi. tapi kene pegi more further than today.. kene jadi mcm shell tu… dalam kedai servis motor sume minyak Shell. Aku harap kalau kite pegi UK ke, Europe ke, Africa ke, America ke, Petronas lubricant & gas station kene ada… Anyone notice any Petronas station other in Malaysia? kalau ada bagus la.. Petronas ni harta negara. Takde petronas, miskin lagi kita ni… jadi kene la jaga elok2… orang kata, kalau kita sayang, kita kene tegur. jadi ape yg cakap ni bukanla bashing, tapi tegur. nak tengok petronas jadi lagi maju dari sekarang. Petronas maju, negara kita pun tambah maju. Janji jgn kerajaan dok hisap duit Petronas tak tentu hala dah laa… Alamak, panjang plak membebel. Lastly good luck 4 petronas! shcumacher, bagi laa orang2 muda bawak keta F1 tu… awak jadi mentor sudah laa… :p

    karipap…

Your info is not correct. Petronas is quite big in Africa… owning the Engen petrol stations based in South Africa. http://www.engen.co.za/downloads/media_centre/pub…

I think they also have petrol stations in other countries. Check out your facts before you say anything provoking.

But I do hope that Schumy come back will get better result than Armstrong 2009 Le Tour de France. Like Schumy, whatever Armstrong does – always attract attention.

i wish he will sink the ferrari's dream of world title next year.. hahaha.. but dont forget, mclarren holds 2 world champions in their stables now… scary to think of it, really!

    Motor sports is very dangerous.

For someone that is already a legend in F1 and still alive and kicking should think more of contributing from the Pit lane then in the cockpit.

Unless he likes hitting the Tamburello corner at 200km/h for kicks.

Motor sports might be dangerous, but with technology and regulations, F1 is pretty safe these days. Way more people die on the roads of KL.
