Lotus Racing likely to stick with current driver line-up

Malaysians might have to wait a bit longer to see Fairuz Fauzy racing in Formula 1. This comes after Lotus Racing’s Chief Technical Officer, Mike Gascoyne expressed his satisfaction with the current two drivers.

“I think the intention is to stick with the drivers we’ve got. I think they’re doing a great job,” said Gascoyne. There were rumours circulating that Jarno Trulli underperforming would be Fauzy’s ticket into a Formula 1 race seat. The fact that Fauzy has been included in Free Practice sessions intensifies the situation.

On Trulli’s performance in this season, Gascoyne stated it has been down to appalling luck and reliability. “That’s the thing with experienced guys, if we give them the car, they can perform with it. Jarno has shown he can still pull the big laps out when he has a trouble-free weekend,” he added.

No time line has been provided as to when the 2011 official line up will be announced, only that it will be “very soon.” So keep your eyes peeled for the next update.

tak pa… tak pa… sabar je la Fauzy…

Setahun dua nih tak yah bawak lagi… bila dah tukar enjin Renault, Chasis dah mantap… time tu baru le bawak…

Kalau sekarang ko bawak kereta tu Fauzy…. asyik kena hentam jek ngan “kengkawan” kita kat Malaysia nih bila asyik dok tempat ke 20… bukannya “kengkawan” kita nih nak support…

lebih baik pandu kereta bila dah masuk kelompok 5 pasukan terbaik dari bawak kereta 3 terbaik (dari bawah)……

Give the young man time to gain experience before putting him in the lion’s den.

If he fails to deliver now due to his inexperience, we deride & ridicule him (like what happened to Alex Yoong).

I would like to give Fairuz on more race experience on Formula Renault world series or GP2 before really moving into F1. Right now even Virgin F1 drivers outpaced him hence this is not a good time for him to race in F1.

However, having Trulli as a test driver is a wise option. His wide experience should help on developing the future car for Lotus F1.

Trust me, try tell that to Vijay Mallya, the owner of Force India and that dude is a bigger millionaire than Tony & Naza. There fore poor and hungry people in India than here. There are also alot of poor people in UK where most F1 team based from.

In conclusion, dont mix social or politics with sports. Its Tony and the Naza brother’s decision to invest on the F1 team. Dont even point on our tax payers money on Lotus F1 team unless someone got the proof.

Agreed, I second trav… Tony and Naza does not use the taxpayers money, they have successful worldwide business and thats where the money come from. and to everyone, this team is only less than a year old. F1 and its technology is not something that can mastered in 6 month. it requires a whole lot of learning & development. be patient. give 3 years, the team will be a genuine podium competitor. think positive. they’ve been doing all the best they can.. and this year, its all about strategy & development for next season. just wait and see… they’ll improve the ladder…
