the main component in making F1 driver cockpit shell is from kevlar, which is material from dupont, material which is strong enough to protect the driver during crashes.

your mum’s non-stick pan material is also from dupont, namely teflon, slippery….

what i know until today is that, still is, lotus from UK & Malaysia is still using dupont paint for their cars….

from putty, primer, basecoat, until clearcoat

Are u sure DuPont is just supplying paint to them? DuPont is the main player in producing high quality, high strength carbon reinforced polymer matrix composites. Chances are they even produce the whole car chassis/body…and even their suspension parts.

I checked. The colour was just factory spec Lotus Racing Green. May or may have not been Du Pont but normal paint supplier. R3 does not need to source it from Lotus Racing. Furthermore while Lotus Racing requires special specifications for their race car, a road car only requires standard paints. Nothing bespoke for the Satria Neo LR Edition

‘Slower cars less airtime’ ??? haha what a joke mind you Lotus is ‘slower’ for just couple of seconds from Ferari for god sakes plus have you ever see F1 in TV? please count how many times Ferari, McLaren and Red Bull is appearing in TV, lesser coz they faster??

Hallo Bro, Lotus F1 Racing able to attract more investments in this racing team. That is good news. Not all prospects wants to invest in uncertain profit. That means more budget for them. Nowadays, Sports is not just sports, it is business.
Just look at EPL, billions from just investments of ads.

i was hoping lotus will secure a technical supplier in the engine area, like toyota. since they already using camry engines in the lotus cars, and proton is talking to perodua for a merger, whlist toyota have all the experience during their short run in F1, maybe that isnt a bad idea to pursuit before the Hispanic team seal the deal. overall cosworth engines are just not doing justices to the new comers as oppose to force india who is using mercedes engines and toro rosso who is using ferrari engine. if budget is the constrain, then look at how Brawn GP did it with honda last year. being small is good, lotus dont need to deal with manufacturer giants, but without a good engine, its hard to move beyond where there are now. im sure tony would have thought about this, but thing might be much more complicated than we can see, but still, im quite sure the current toyota ceo (grandson of the founder) who launch the lexus LF and toyota FT-86, is not interested in racing toyota banners in F1 holygrail.

Some companies like to sponsor smaller teams because they
1) are not so cocky
2) will listen to sponsor
3) are cheap
4) are generally running slower which means your logo can be seen better

Well, ICI paint used to be a major sponsor in F1 so there is a valid reason for DuPont to get involve as well. Futhermore, they can help develop some special paint which might be lighter, less friction or whatever that will definitely benefit an F1 team and consumer.
