Special edition Alfa GT Quadrifoglio d’ Oro for Japan

Fiat Automobiles Japan have released a special edition Alfa Romeo GT Quadrifoglio d’ Oro that will have a limited run of 60 units. If you’re racking your brain trying to figure out what Quadrifoglio d’Oro means, it’s Golden Clover. This has been used in the past by Alfa to symbolise top of the range models, using either a gold or silver clover leaf.

Changes to the car are cosmetic such as the 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, 225/40 tyres, brake calipers finished in red, body coloured door mirrors and gold leaf clover badging. Inside, the interior will feature leather, sports seats and aluminium sports pedals.

Under the hood is a 163 hp/206 Nm 2.0-litre JTS petrol engine coupled with a 5-speed Selespeed transmission. This is the same drivetrain that Sime Darby Auto Italia brings in for our GT, which retails at RM218,888.

I personally feel that for a Coupe, Alfa GT is almost perfect whereas Brera is not. Brera is flawed. The overall body shape of Brera is more like a hatch than a coupe, the rear seat is there but obviously a serious joke as room for legs is non-existant, and the front face a straight copy of Alfa 159. Why Alfa did not carry on the with the tradition that has been laid out previously by Alfa GTV & GT? – built a proper low slung coupe shape car with its own individual face but still using the same saloon platform and useable rear seat (at least by children). These are the reason why Alfa GT still got demand worldwide. A practical and beautiful sports coupe!

Brera came out long before the 159 did…159 copied the brera’s front end not the other way around.
