Lotus Eterne: new 4-door, 4-seater GT concept

Lotus Eterne: new 4-door, 4-seater GT concept

The Lotus Eterne concept – another 4-door supersedan similar to the likes of the Aston Martin Rapide, the Porsche Panamera, the Fisker Karma, the Tesla Model S, the Maserati Quattroporte, and etc. The Eterne will be powered by a similar engine as the one found in the Esprit – a 5.0 litre force inducted V8 making 620 PS, but it will be mounted in a front-mid position instead of at the rear like the Esprit.

The plan is for a Spring 2015 launch so this car has quite some way to go. An Eterne equipped with just the internal combustion engine will be rear wheel drive, but the spec sheet lists optional hybrid drive via a “hybrid gearbox with integrated electric motors and KERS”. This is likely a gearbox that has the electric motor sandwiched between it and the combustion engine, somewhat like a motor assist system.

Lotus has put an indicative price of £120,000. That’s about £20,000 cheaper than the four door Aston Martin Rapide’s £139,950 starting price tag, but much more expensive than a Porsche Panamera.

Too be expensive than the panamera is to be better than the panamera, panamera ticked all the right boxes except the looks department, but the interior build quality is impeccable, rapide is just plainly overpriced and cramped and looks like a streched DB9 with DB9’s interior,
The eterne is not the prettiest in the lotus’s range but its will have alot of rivals when it comes out , the one to watch out for is the new Quattroporte

Yep. Looks wise it beats the Panamera, price wise it beats the Rapide, hopefully it wouldn’t be another “Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious” car.

    • as currently in the near future or the current market. there will be quite some choice of Quattroporte available.. from the Panamera to Lambo Estoque and buggati veyron 4 door.. and not losing to all others.. Our Lotus came up this hot and spicy Lotus Eterne.. We all know are supercar…
But most supercar arent good for handling.. If you have a Lotus as a lagend in handling. I believe you will be in control with Eterne.
And Fyi.. Panamera is more expensive to Eterne. But it’s not a hybrid and Panamera’s performance loose to Eterne(tough it’s still a concept).. go check the Panamera’s perfomaance out before you may give such a kiddy comment on the pricing.
      Just my 2 cents.

Supercars now handles better than ever before, you can checkout topgear’s episode, or Autocars videos on autocars.co.uk

FYI , Panamera turbo with PDK is 98k pounds, thats 20k cheaper than the eterne , performance wise, nobody knows for sure, Aston Martin Rapide on the other hand is cramped, has a smaller boot ,ugly interior ,performance wise is nowhere near the panamera, and yet it is 50k pounds more expensive that is why i said it is overpriced ,

Thats why if the eterne is going to be 20k more expensive than the panamera turbo, it needs to be better than panamera, which im sure a replacement model will come along in 2015,

Unless Ferrari too make a four door coupe, this will be a three horse race between Panamera, Rapide and Lotus. Oh wait, add Lamborghini Estoque to the equation. While I like the idea of Quattroporte, Audi is never about Sports Car. Audi competitors are Jaguar, BMW and Mercs.

Oh wait, Quattroporte is Maserati. Sorry, my bad. Still, won’t lump Maserati in that category tho. They’ve been making four doors for ages.

For me, I think 2015 is a bit too late. They should build this by 2012 to catch up the hype of grand four coupe sports car. I do believe that there is enough potential buyer that are too lazy to drive but still want something exotic like this.
