Mitsubishi has released the first images of its Mitsubishi Concept Global Small, which will make its world debut at the Geneva International Motor Show this year in March. A production version of this car will be built at Mitsubishi’s new factory in Thailand, and it is part of the Thai eco car program.
A brief list of the car’s features included in the press release reveals it will come with compact engines ranging from 1.0 litre to 1.2 litre in size, a regenerative braking system, an automatic idle stop-start system, a CVT transmission, and CO2 emissions in the mid-90g/km range.
The new Thai factory, which employs 3,000 people, will make 150,000 units of the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small annually, and it will be sold in Thailand at a starting price of about 400,000 Thai baht. The factory will handle pressing, welding, painting and assembly of the car.
Look after the jump for two previously released sketches of the Mitsubishi Concept Global Small, including a rear three-quarter sketch.

hope this tiny will be sold here….
look like savvy upgrade
A piller just look like savvy la…
ya..savvy tech and spec is not very bad man..but the problem is exterior design too awful..its too weird..why top2 management at p1 agreed to release it?weird right?maybe that time they still blind..haha..if savvy design is nice, sure it still can compete with i10 and swift…but….u knw wat i mean..
roof lining from A pillar to C pillar look so savvy. same goes to ‘toilet bow’ bonnet design from side.
savvy replacement model perhaps…
Obviously that is rebadge of Proton Savvy
Paul, any idea on its platform and chassis? driven Nissan Global Small Car, the March, only suitable to drive in the city and lack refinement. hopefully Mitsu will develop this tiny one better.
Nothing special
To be honest, it kinda looks like the Peugeot SR1 at the front. I won’t be surprised if PSA Peugeot Citroen sells a version.
PAS can offer this as a Peugeot, or even Citroen in China.
The thing about that is, PSA Peugeot Citroen already have a small car platform with Toyota with the Aigo/107/C1 which in itself is a marvel in packaging and costing. The C1 is stupid popular in France…I see them all over the place.
The thing about the French is, they are very patrotic, a car not built in france will not be popular with the frenchies.
The only place i could see them slotting this in is a C2 model between the smaller C1 and C3…how Peugeot slots it in would be interesting.
replacing the colt?maybe is a new model which will fit under the colt and miev….
definitely from savvy chasis…
it’s part of proton and mitsu understanding.
But the fact that, mitsu, could do a better body shell to it.
Bravo Mitsubishi…
kesian proton!
and savvy is design by korean not proton…3rd party by LG heavy industries….. but of course by proton $$$… :-p
that right, proton cannot design better than mitsu.. actually i see in documentray about 25 years proton month ago in rtm and saw one person in proton rnd design a car using tablet touch screen and the design looks termendous but i wonder why they not produce design car like that… very shameful of you proton. come on proton, give a chance for that designer..
they didn’t make such cars maybe bcoz at that time those awesome design is hard to produce in real life or maybe the design wasn’t user-friendly enough.
be patient, in 2012-13 those new Proton concept cars will enter production…those designs are awesome duuude. (except the Kasturi and Jebat lol they looked like rice cars)
adoi.. what to kesian lah.. Proton still making money… they stopping savvy production soon…
Proton rebadge this one and will sell like hot cakes
I’m waiting for that, and don’t forget to sell much lower price than p2 myvi.. if not we will choose myvi..
Hmm…Peugeot SR1, Ford Fiesta’s front, and Mazda 2’s back. And Fiesta and 2 both assembled in Thailand. Hmm.
love the rear reflectors ^^
De rear really looks like Pug308..
macam savvy je..
I can’t see any similarity to potong savvy. All I know savvy is a failure model. Wake up guys!!
definitely SAVVY platform, hopefully when came to boleh land the design should be more better … good
damn cun!
The factory will handle pressing, welding, painting and assembly of the car.
Proton manufactures the car?
Savvy was a top 10 car in Thailand in 2008. Other cars include Jaguar XF, the BMW 320d, the Volvo S80 3.2, the MINI Cooper S Clubman, the Honda City, the Honda Jazz, the Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the Subaru Impreza STI.
It was reported: http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/news-and-reviews/car-news/proton_goes_back_to_mitsubishi
Proton is likely to do the work for a shared city car, which would become the replacement for its current Savvy, with Mitsubishi lining up a replacement for the Waja which could be based on its new Lancer.
Is this the shared city car, a likely replacement for current Savvy? We already saw the Waja replacement from Mitsubishi.
agree! looks like Proton Savvy!!
as usual. when mitsu comes with design, some will say 1 day become proton, so in this case some will say it;s savvy, no one knows, maybe it is, but if it really does, then wake up, why P can’t get it right n M got it right?
front look like ford focus.
looks more like Hyundai i10 buff up version..I expected the back look more like in the drawings then it looks more fierce..now it looks more bulat. Its longer then the savvy i believe…
by the look of its design, no way it can beat the fiesta
I see a rebadged Potong Sawi in the making.
If it ever reach our shore…..suggest to wait for Proton to rebadge it. The selling price will defenitely down by at least 20%. Anyway….it really looks far better than savvy.
Savvy? No la .. this one more elagant …. I the first to buy if sell here KL..
seriously it do have some dejavu feeling as if its Savvy
well yes it look nicer… but in a way its just like a Savvy upgrade…or Savvy reskin
Plzzzzzzzz guys not every mitsubishi is related to Proton…………… Savy is renault base, plzz get your facts right
nice design…..good if comes with 1.5cc engine….
