Great Wall Motor engages Ricardo to develop DCT gearbox

It looks like even the Chinese automakers are jumping onto the dual clutch transmission bandwagon! Ricardo has announced that it has signed a tentative agreement to provide Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor Co (which makes the Hover SUV above) design services for a 6-speed dual clutch transmission as well as an advanced gasoline engine. Ricardo has a Chinese technical center in Shanghai, and has over 20 regular customers in China which it provides consultancy services to. It’s other Chinese clients include Chery Automobile Co and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp, both of which it assists in the development of hybrid powertrains.

While China cars are going to have the latest technology in their cars.. our local car manufacturers are still quite happy wif 4-speed auto, CVT & AMT technology… Time to move faster a bit!!!

China is picking up. What is our country doing? Still sleeping? Or they are awake all the time, just never do anything about it!!!

    • most of us only critisied and concern about the motor industry.
If all Malaysian really love our country, please exercise your right. Many of the unwanted projects like nuclear and rare earth had been agreed , approved and plan silently. Now you know why some one on the paper said the project must go on.

Well, ask the people in the “planned area” to see if there has been any earthwork done to the area even before the project is announced to the public then you will know the answer :D

Wait a minute, this is a car blog. Seems China is pushing for it because they know how huge their car market is and how huge they can gain by offering an updated product else losing to foreign updated cars :D

China on the other hand has 20X more homegrown passager cars manufacutories than Malaysia does, BAW/BAIC, FAW, DFAC/Dongfeng, SAIC, Chang’an, GAC, JAC, Chery, BYD, Geely, Brillance, Lifan, Zoyte, Huatai, Huanghai, ZXAuto etc etc all of them produce their own brand cars , so go figure how the competition there is.

  • betul betul keng…
Negara kecik macam Singapura kita cakap dia orang maju kerana gomen dia senang nak jaga.
Negara besar macam China cakap sebab banyak orang bagi duit kat gomen…. tak habis-habis alasan….

mungkin Malaysia saiznya sederhana tak baik kot
    ….sumua habis lu cakap liao….

May I know what type of AMT gear box does the Great Wall Haval M4 uses? Is it CVT also?

Single clutch automated manual, like Alfa Selespeed or Proton Savvy AMT.
