Tan Chong initiates service campaign for Nissan Grand Livina, Latio and Latio Sport to fix inaccurate fuel gauge

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has initiated a service campaign for 32,100 units of the Nissan Grand Livina produced from December 2007 to June 2010 and 9,300 units of Nissan Latio and Latio Sport produced from May 2007 to June 2010 in Malaysia.

There has been some cases in which the fuel gauge (meter) may not show an accurate reading, especially at the lower end (might still show that there’s petrol left, even when there’s none). Upon investigation, it was found that such incidents may have been caused by “electrochemical migration on the resistor-card in the fuel gauge being affected by a combination of environmental aspects, fuel variation and etc”.

Tan Chong initiates service campaign for Nissan Grand Livina, Latio and Latio Sport to fix inaccurate fuel gauge

Owners of the abovementioned models can contact the nearest Tan Chong Express Auto Service Centre or ETCM’s Customer Service Hotline toll free at 1800-88-3838 to book a service appointment. Alternatively, the fix can also be done during your scheduled service. Not all vehicles may have the issue, but this service campaign covers all 41,400 units of the models stated above.

“Customers are always our top priority. We initiated this service campaign to cover all the vehicles produced during the mentioned period even though not all the vehicles may be affected. All labour and replacement parts for this less than an hour exercise will be free-of-charge,” explained ETCM’s Executive Director, Dato’ Dr Ang Bon Beng.

In the meantime, to avoid the inconvenience of an empty tank, ETCM advises owners of the three models to constantly keep their vehicle’s fuel level at “half tank or more” pending replacement of the parts.

bukan measurement tu berkaitan dengan fuel gauge jugak ke? kalau gauge ni rosak barangkali reading FC tu pun silap juga, kalau tak, takkanlah ada yang sampai kering petrol.

But the Proton is much more cheaper (pls don’t include the different tax-count), Malaysian mostly can accept the condition for the price…

That’s is the reality in taxed Malaysia car, accept or regred.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
        • mostly accept??are u sure enough just_once?fyi..the tax for imported car is just to save the proton company..do you think people who buy proton cars can accept such silly problems?the simplest one is the power window. customers have their own right. how can imported car which below 60k still can provide very good quality? (60k imported car included tax, without tax maybe it only 40k) but it still much better than 60k proton cars quality. people who buy proton just only it is ‘cheaper’ than imported cars doesnt mean people accept their condition. how cheap the car made buy proton, customer still DESERVE TO GET A BETTER QUALITY.

i trust proton nowadays has improve a lot. However, this few issues will still make me not buying proton cars yet…
            – high bank interest
            – low second value
            – fuel economy
            – i still doubt about safety
            – after sales service

other issues, i still can live with it. Even T & H also got issues.. its normal to me.

I have latio sport for 3years and now is 100K KM already. i always pump ron97 and you know what? i can hit ~550KM +- 20KM per tank after the fuel light ON and still drive again 30KM. everytime i always monitor the petrol station pump meter show me around 43 to 44L. i think it is quite accurate also. laton have max 52L per tank.

  • FC-wise nothing to do with the inaccurate gauge. Old issues in the abovementioned cars as first two indicator and the last two indicator (of 4 quarters) for fuel gauge not corresponding to the volume of fuel.

Imagine a bottle of coke if you can’t figure out Nissan fuel gauge system.

Livina speedometer too, incorrect if you based on gps, unlike xtrail or other models.

I fixed mine before this. My car was hit by this problem as the indicator still show got petrol and my mileage was more than usual. Then my entire car stopped and I can’t start the engine. Then tow back to check. Said indicator problem. My car no more petrol. Changed it and now is fine.

  • NISSAN has to improve. Grand Livina is one of the popular MPV. The car has not changed since several years. It would be better to come up with a facelift like others, add equipment, improve the interior. This is my advice to NISSAN.
