There will be a new MPV from Toyota launching in Indonesia soon, as revealed by PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) bosses. It could be a new Avanza or Kijang Innova, as these two models have been serving the market for a long time, or a brand new model. But what’s certain is that it’ll be launched at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2011, which happens in July.
According to detikOto, TAM president Johnny Darmawan revealed that a new model will be launched at IIMS. He didn’t elaborate, but the company’s Marketing GM Widyawati Soedigdo added that it’s an MPV. “Akan ada mobil baru salah satunya MPV di IIMS,” she was quoted as saying.
The marketing boss of TAM added that the upcoming new model will be “much improved” and that its pricing will be “very competitive”. So what do you think it is?
In Indonesia, a strong MPV market, the Kijang Innova (just Innova to us) was launched back in 2004, receiving a facelift in 2008. The smaller Avanza on the other hand, was launched in 2003 and facelifted in 2006. It’s also sold as the Daihatsu Xenia, although the Toyota badged model is costlier, better regarded and more popular. Toyota is by far the market leader in Indonesia with a commanding 37% of TIV in 2010.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
next, perodua kijang. lol
Kijang actually means Kerjasama Indonesia-Japang (Japang means Japan in indonesia language)
that is why the Innova and the Unser is not known as Toyota Kijang bur rather just Kijang or Kijang Innova.
Another boring car for the masses…….. Toyota should learn from Kia and Hyundai how to do interesting…..
even exora is better looking than avanza and innova
Exora exterior design may looked better “a bit”than T.Innova…..but for the interior and performance…sorry lah…Exora always far behind from T.Innova.
Innova is a lot wose than Exora thanks to the lorry chassis… The TR engine with a big fan hinged on it loves to drink fuel nearly as much as the Naza Ria…
Exora may be better than Avanza but way more uglier compared to Innova. And talking about quality, performance and handling, lost by a mile lah!
What handling? Do u even drive innova? I drove my father’s car. Just hate the beige interior. Quality? The plastic look cheap to me. To complete it, i really x1000 hate the sound system. Sound so cheap for that kind of price
DD hates his father.
for buying innova.
guess you never take a ride in Innova
Innova/Avanza is based on truck…..try sitting on the 3rd row, cfirm dizzy….innova same chasis wt Hilux & Fortuner, horror ride
performance??…….dude, inova = u buy a pick up truck then put roof and 3rd row….have u ever drive one actually…..or worse sit at the back……..go and test drive all the mpv and 7 seater suv and even pickup in malaysia la….dont worry it’s all free…..need ic and driving licence….well maybe except those in VW Glenmarie u need extra stuff such as a tuxedo and chauffeured driven to the showroom and look old and wealthy and no slippers please…otherwise the salesmen think u just another fly………
Sure !! Naza Ria Look Very Interesting :-)
Car for the masses meant salable car, that what car business is about.
Should be a major revamp on current design of Innova and Avanza. Both have been left unnoticed by Toyota’s engineer for the past few years.
In some country, it is good for carrying goods and being treat as a slave. My personal experience in Brunei, certain people use it to carry goods, and let their worker drive it at full slavery potential, full throttle every time and emit black smoke..
Good news for Toyota fan in Malaysia. Toyota fan always have good stories about their vehicles.
Hope Toyota Malaysia will bring it in too , as The Current Avanza & Innova is getting Boring & Outdated…..
everyone wish to own a good & nice or super car, our salary should paid by Dollar or Euro instead of RM!
hope got better rear suspension, and if can swich to FF layout…
3rd row passenger will have more comfort ride…
unser and innova were originally designed for indonesia, thus the suspension design and drivetrain set-up is inclined more towards the road condition of indonesia (narrow and uneven with less straights)
the same reason why avanza has similar set-up ie RWD.
I dont think an independent suspension cnt survive on uneven road….
Boring…
Yes, comparison of Exora, Innova, Avanza etc.
Remove the punishing duties and there will be ZERO Exora sales…end of story.
waaaaaa….thailand & indonesia pun orng beli daa…
Toyota always listen to the needs of its customers. Customer wise, you’re far ahead of other marques, congrats !
Whats missing in Malaysia is the Diesel powered Innova or equivalent. The petrol version is simply too consumptive and under powered.
Looks ugly? I think all MPV are Van until proven otherwise. Its hard to combine beauty, interior spacousness and low cost.
Yeap, in Brunei ppl are using 2.5 liter D4D diesel innova…good FC
in indo they call the avanza ‘kaleng kerupuk’ for its thin-as-thin body :p would never buy that piece of crap even if it meant i have to walk :)
Another new car in the offing.. This year see a rise in new models…Hope this drives competition and more offer competitive price for all…
diesel or hybird?
Kijang is Innova in Indonesia, guess it must be 2nd IMV project(the 1st IMV spawned into Hilux, Innova and Fortuner)
is this one?

Front looks like the Toyota Sienna minivan….nice and pls no more truck chasis
anyway, Toyota & Honda brand still got better 2nd value than others…yahooo!
