Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima has become the first person to break the fabled 10 minute barrier at Pikes Peak. The 60-year-old steered his SX4 race car to a record time of 9 minutes, 51.278 seconds to record his sixth consecutive outright win at the international hill climb.

Tajima had to overcome serious mechanical issues on his record-breaking run, in this case a blown radiator and a sudden loss of power steering in the final part of run up the 19.9 km-long course.

A fixture at the event since 1988, Tajima has now won the unlimited division a record 11 times, all behind the wheel of Suzuki vehicles.

Go Tajima san! Man,this dude is still rocking Pikes Peak after all these years.

Saw him in action a couple of times while i was in the U.S for quite some time.It was the Escudo if i’m not mistaken, that beast had over 1000bhp even at that time.

Man was he fast!He kicked everyone’s asses good.Jovial and bubbly character though.

Good to see him still at it.Hope he still will carry on racing.Dying breed of veteran crazy as hell racers.

    Cheers.

I think Lewis Hamilton would be peeing in his pant if he was sitting next to Tajima san during this incredible ride!

Moreover, I think Tajima san could had got that done at least another 10 seconds sooner if not because those morons standing too close to the road.

and he’ve come here to compete in rally malaysia in 90’s…..driving suzuki baleno, suzuki wagon, and old cultus/swift (where the idea of twin engined 4wd cultus 700hp(*350hp each engine) blazing the pikes peak….

(p/s: i personally have his picture with me at those time)
