New Toyota Hilux facelift set for unveiling this month!

New Toyota Hilux facelift set for unveiling this month!

We’re probably due to see the entire Toyota IMV range facelifted at the Indonesian International Motor Show later this month, but here’s a preview for you – the first product photo of the new facelifted Toyota Hilux, which is also on display in Australia this month.

The front end now features a stronger, edgier grille, but the changes kinda stop there. I’m expecting the Hilux to continue to be offered in the 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre D4-D turbodiesel engines, and in certain countries also a 4.0 litre V6 petrol.

Toyota tries to cut cost. I went to see the one in Melbourne. Not much changes for this. Just that they change the appearance a bit. They even clearify that for engine and gearbox, it will remains the same.

Defenders are military-spec so they’re definitely more expensive. Sort of like the original Hummers compared to their sissy Hummer 2 and 3…

Petrols have higher power than diesels, and meets USA and Japanese emission regulations, so all the trucks sold in USA, Japan, and some trucks in Australia uses petrol engines.

for me, i think nissan frontier & mistu triton are more enjoyable to drive.. got a bit more ‘go’ power compared to hilux, dmax, bt-50. just a personal experience though.

      • It is the mosr reliable truck in the world. Its engine, GB and chasis are super duper strong. More power and torque do not always guarantee its working ability though.

    Cosmetics only, as expected.
Nissan vehicles in Malaysia tend to have long ‘lifecycle’ which is a plus point for those not planning to change cars frequently.
Proton cars also tend to have long ‘lifecycle’ but I guess that is due to slow improvement.

  • Hilux, Best selling 4×4 pick up truck in Malaysia. Outsold closes rival Triton by 2.5 times, D-Max by 3.5 times.
When it come to pick up truck durability & easier maintenance come first, styling isn’t a priority.

SD have only themself to blamed for screwing up on once very popular Ranger.

sime darby enjoyed a huge success with the ranger, in fact they and isuzu were the ones responsible for rugged double cab pick-up trucks. toyota malaysia all the time the last to join because they studied the market first but they always ended up winning more sales.

In my experience, from the old Ford Ranger to the Latest Macho looking Ranger, none of them feel good in both driving experience and comfortability.. Ssangyong Actyon is really stable instead and feel tough and comfortable in comparison. Not sure for Hilux, Triton nor Dmax tough..

They make a facelift to look like the all-new Ford Ranger?? Don’t like the grills… hoped for this facelift to look like the Tundra with gaping mouth and all… or just fix the last Fortuner facelift headlights on and slap a gaping mouth up front… I like gaping mouths…
