Say hello to the latest iteration of the Euro Honda Civic which will be making its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Honda has just released the first few images of the hatchback following a teaser image that was shown late last month.
The 5-door which will hit European showrooms in early 2012 is said to offer better ride and handling, lower exhaust emissions as well as better interior quality. Honda also mentioned that the airy cabin and boot space has been retained as well.
According to Honda, the new Euro Civic’s design is inspired by a “blended wing body’ aeroplane in which the fuselage and wings blend into a single body for superior aerodynamic performance, quietness and habitability”. What do you think of the design? Prefer its predecessor?
More details to come your way soon. Meanwhile you can find a high-res image gallery after the jump.

Superb!!!!
OMG…superb stylish. Nice and sporty. Pls come to Malaysia.
Nice, the self confidence is still there.
i like!
Doesn’t look at crap as the FN2. In all honesty, I’d say this looks way better than the US Civic. But will this rather good looking Civic get here? Hmmmm..
I think it doesn’t come to ASEAN, even Singapore…
gen2 rear lamp?
for me the front design is quite nice, but the rear design is fugly.
You must be from stoneage
same shape….but more atractive i guess
Very Insight-ish at first sight.Rather modern as opposed the FN1/2.
Wow.. a lot better than the outgoing euro civic. this design is more acceptable and i’m sure there will be alot of importers bringing this model in..
not so sporty.. kurang jantan..
reka bentuk dalaman nya ok tp luaran nya mcm dah mengabungkan honda city dgn honda insight…:-)
don’t just get the insight look…for the sake of environment you can make it ‘green’ like crz…introducing hybrid TYPE R!!!
so civic is ~ to Jazz/Fit in Mr Bean land
another dissappointment. The previous version was so much more “cutting edge” design. This…just look like a butt slammed insight+civic+city….
//cam.shaft
ugly as hell
nice
Lines are very smooth, possibly to follow where the current FD civic lines are. Some will say it mimics the Hyundai’s current fluidic sculpture looks.
It’ll be nice to see this hatch in the market, but highly unlikely now that the Insight is as far as a hatch we can catch.
Any news of Honda’s new Ai-VTEC tech?
The rims looks like the one from Mitsu Lancer GT! Mayb sourced frm the same supplier Enkei..
wow…speechlesssssss…i would like to buy one….
this one is waaaaaaaayyyyyy better than the 2012 asian civic. please bring this to bolehland instead of the other one
Fantabulous!:))
Wow….!!! Sharp and fine body-lining…..it’s gonna cost u ard RM120k by the time it arrive here in malaysia i guess(for sedan ver.)
The back seems to take design cues from the Insight.
Ford fiesta wannabe?Pls come out with fresher designs Honda.
that rear light remind me of taiwan version of gen2 LED tail light
this euro civic exterior design is more beutiful than the latest US civic..
really hope that the new civic going to launch here will use the design from the euro one..
This one less eye sore.. Too bad is a Euro Civic.. never gonna be officially release here… hahahahah
da rear show as using hybrid. body look unique but it still hot!
Interior looks cool as always..
Nice interior design!
This one looks so much better than the JDM or USDM version. Can we get Honda Malaysia to bring it here? LOL
better look than the new newest civic which replacing our FD…
looks like a sportier version of Insight.. I’m ok with this, and hope the local sedan will get this version of head instead of the boring ahpek version..
nice, looks better than hyundai veloster
The overall design is fantastic especially the rear end , over hang wings tail light. The front still need some ambitious form or shape. The best part of it is the interior. This Civic Euro really outshine its JDM or American Honda model. Hopefully a better 6 speed dual clutch auto, an all new diesel and petrol engine. May this car would go head to head with Volkswagen Golf . Cant wait to see the all new Accord Euro
Wow, I like it, especially the interior.
Look way better than the sedan.
looks nice but its just a makeover from the old one
when is Honda going to return to their champion days like when they invented the GODlike NSX
Good job honda.. Your design became uglier by time.. Keep it up..
this looks way better than the american version! so much sportier and the interior too!
Wow, new insight..wait,what?
actually not bad…more refined compared to the earlier FN2….
WOW! very nice…
WOW! very nice…better then previous..
Oh man… this is so beautiful…. perfectness!!!!
Love the back but the front a bit too samey with the insight and city (although I guess europe doesn’t market the city) Overall much nicer than the soon to be released saloon version here (boring!!)
This one look better then the current version.
This is by no means ugly but I prefer the old versions looks much much more.
this civic looks decent… i like…. looks fast as well…
Are we able to do something for Honda M’sia to bring this in?
nice and chubby but i like it. have always liked the euro civic hatch.
yups, prefer the previous model..and yes, FK2 was very spacious, especially for rear passenger..
There will be bunch of comments on that tail lights
its getting less masculine, more feminine.
go civic!!
very niceeeee…now that’s what i call a civic…. sweeettt
it look nice….
bt is it 2 door or 4 door?
cool!
This is definitely a better version
Thank u honda-san.. dis is a nice & decent design for hash back :) wat i’m eager to know is the tech spec lor…meaning new civic will be available in m’sia next yeer…:DD
cute!!! like it!!!
Ugly la Civic ni….FLX looks 100x better….ha…haaaa…ha
apa punya taste kau ni
Bila I kata FLX tu fugly, korang bg thumb down. Kata FLX tu cantik, dpt thumb down jgk. Ape la korang niiiii???
ehhh? Red line at 4.5k rev? Am I missing something here?
red line at that low rpm indicates that it could possibly be diesel.
If this is the one that will reach our shore, i will be happy.
No sedan, only hatchback ?
much better than U.S version civic
i prefer this one compared to the predecessor!
i have to say this is the best looking frm the 9th gen line up.feels like a spaceship.unfortunately we dun be getting this.
Bring it in to Malaysia!!!!
Its not Honda’s fault it is so ugly, its the euro’s safety regulations….
This Honda hatchback is so damn gorgeous & i will start to save $$ now until it arrive at M’sia shore!!
i duno wat u guys think…but i definitely will buy tis if it come to our shores and if the price not tat crazy high…but i doubt abt it….AP & tax…..haih…..
this should be the civic…sceptical about the front though
Look more like a Insight hatchback to me
TBH, I don’t get the excitement for the design.
Teaser look awesome, but real thing ain’t.
THIS LOOK GREAT, HOPE ASIA CIVIC CAN BE LIKE TAT!!! CHEER!
Nice looking..but the rear lamp looks like persona. LOL
ugly betty…
gen 2 ka?ahahahaaha
Look good! Not bad.. Better than current one.
Nice design compared to the US version, btw…whats the powertrain available? read somewhere honda will introduce a smaller 1.6 liter turbodiesel for this civic? Will make it more competitive in Europe since they currently only have a 2.2 idtec for a diesel version.
persona rear light ?
hahahha … very good looking car indeed . btw
Nice indeed but the rear screen view looks very limited. Will need reverse camera
Finally Honda is listening….
Awesome.
1000 X better than the Hyundai i30 in every aspect.
so torsion beam lagi ke?
more positive comment…not bad laa
so justin bieber u better watch out ur ferrari! honda civic is back..hehe..
ferrari dia kena langgar dgn civic..scratch sket je…
OMG…Superb stylish. Hope it will sell in Malaysia.
At first I thought that it’s a new Insight prototype but it’s actually a Civic. At least this design is way much better than the sedan 2012 Civics.
Diesel maybe… low rpm…
ini version masuk, gua beli…US version masuk….heh…tak mo pandang
it look nicer… i like it… now waiting for Type-R version.
simply ugly and look cheap ‘ Honda logo ‘!1 more thing is rear looks like the Gen 2!!!
10,000 times nicer than current version! like the front and interior.
What’s with the outdated Persona Tailamp? even persona is going to be replaced next year…..
Excellence design, if add some skirt for this beast is more better, interior should add some chrome design to give consumer look more elegance and sporty. Well Done.
the front end looks depressed… :(
Nice exterior with a sharper Insight theme. Nice rear door handles camouflage.
Interior looks better than last model but still puzzle why do they place the hand brake lever on the passenger side. Interior Insight better imho.
back to become old lad car
This Euro Civic looks bloody awesome and cool! Too bad Honda Malaysia never brings in the Euro versions.
Now with the Jetta set to take on the Civic, Honda Malaysia better improve the quality and bring in a better car. I’m sure the Euro Civic can fight off the Jetta better than the boring US and JDM version.
I love this design!
Simple yet modern.
Good design. look quite similar to ford but with wider body.
Should consider a latest City rather than a civic.
lampu belakang macam proton persona je. tp upside-down…hehe
neat!! especially the interior!!
Steering wheel not sporty enough. Prefer current style.
yes keep the current steering wheel and it will be perfect.spaceship cabin
2 door?..or the same door like rx-8?
4 door for sured.
Question is suicide door like Mazda RX8 or hidden door latch like Alfa Romeo.
DRB Honda “We want this model, Not the US or JDM version please”
it’s a hidden door hatch
PLeaseee MUGEN it!!!! hahaha must be so damn hot!!!
Better design than US version of Civic…
But then again the rear is quite big like our Gen2 / Persona. Honda stole P1 design?
Guess what happened if P1 cars design looks like any of the Japs / Korean cars, sure kena bash kao kao.
Malaysian Hypocrisy at it’s best…
p1 gen2 persona rear also quite look like 2004 dodge stratus back leh.
Forte > Civic… True story
not liking it at first sight but it might grow on me. ;)
I like the RX7 style rear door handles. it keeps the lines clean.
better looking than it’s spaceship predecessor. welcome back to earth.
Nice but we won’t get this hottie bcause here;-
Small boot (hatch) = less people will buy
Large boot (sedan) = more people will buy
Xtra large boot (wagon) = almost no people will buy pulak…
err..the above statement applies to non-national car only ya…
Chief among the changes under the bonnet will be the adoption of a crucial new 1.6-litre diesel. However, this engine will not be available from launch but is tipped to follow later in 2012. The initial engine line-up consists of revised versions of today’s 1.4-litre and 1.8-litre petrol units and the 2.2 i-DTEC diesel from the Accord, each with improved performance, economy and CO2 emissions, which are as low as 110g/km in the 2.2 diesel.
The new Civic, which will again be built at Honda’s Swindon plant, uses a platform adapted from the one used on today’s car. The as-yet-unconfirmed exterior dimensions are believed to remain largely unchanged, but the wheelbase is actually about 30mm shorter than before because extra safety equipment has been incorporated.
Despite this shorter wheelbase, Honda says interior space has remained unchanged and it describes it as “class leading”. This is partly down to the compact torsion beam rear suspension being retained and the fuel tank remaining centrally mounted. These two factors also help contribute to a claimed class-leading boot capacity of 470 litres.
Wow…..470 litres boot capacity is BIG for a hatchback…kudos to Honda
fugly
Thought the car is 3 doors, but it 5 doors civic. Sporty design yet practical. Awesome!!
insight+crz=civic
