Honda CR-Z spotted in Kota Damansara – on the way in?

Might it be that the Honda CR-Z three-door hybrid hatch is set to make its way into the market here soon? The example seen in the pix intimates so – reader Daryl spotted the trade-plated vehicle parked somewhere in Kota Damansara, and snapped a photo of it for us. The car made an appearance last year at KLIMS, but no word then on when it was due in.

The car, which wears a 1.5 litre LEA i-VTEC four-cylinder mill and Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid-electric system offering 122 hp and 174 Nm, will of course benefit from the continued import and excise duty exemption for hybrids that runs until Dec 31, 2013 announced in Budget 2012.

Of interest is whether the car, when it comes, will be equipped with the six-speed manual transmission that’s general issue or wear the optional continuously variable transmission as standard fare here. Guess we’ll find out when someone snaps a photo of the interior!

YES and WELCOME. Respect to all new potential owners. You’re paying road tax for a 1.5L but you have the performance of a 2.0L and the fuel efficiency of 1.3L I believe.

wont even reach the 2l performance.1.6l i can agree. various car review have even state that this car is not even up to par to even be called sporty.

but at least its a better alternative than the oh-very-slow prius and insight. now ppl with hybrid car can at least feel the acceleration that we normal people have been feeling all this while.

Insight is not slow at all and the S mode is there if you need it. It already have the performance of 1.8L while having the fuel efficiency of a 1.0L! Combined torque is higher than CRZ at 199 NM, don’t know why. Like I said it can do the century sprint in 10 seconds as compared to Inspira 1.8L CVT version which need 11.4 seconds, and Honda City around the same time (with more horsepower but less torque). So I’ve come to a conclusion that horsepower is not everything, torque is more important for most normal drivers.

You can’t have ultra high performance without sacrificing fuel efficiency and difficulty of meeting European emission standards. You can’t have everything at the same time. A lot of sports cars are around for those who want even more speed.

It can go from 0-100km/hr in just 8 seconds, so what do you think? Ya because it has a smaller and lighter body. 6 speed manual for performance and CVT for optimum fuel efficiency and easyness of driving.

the reference equivalent to 2.0L is not about top end power but rather, just the pulling power at low revs.

like prius, toyota say its 1.8L is equivalent to a modern 2.4. only at the lower bottom rpm where most drivers utilized most of the time…

very few people drives at 5-6K rpm.

Yes man low end torque is the most important. Most people drive with low revs including myself which is more efficient, reduce engine and brake wear and maintenance fees.

Many failed to notice that hybrid below 2 ltr r not 100% tax free, there is still 10% sales tax, that why Langkawi price is still cheaper by 10%, on top of that + (invinsible tax such as AP cost & corporate tax, + u help me i help u ?? To get business going).
Many take US car price as guide, pls note that price on the website is not nett (there still sales tax (different from state to state), emission tax, vehicle tax, annual inspection, expensive insurance & etc)

same as Prius, RM70k in US but RM140k here.
is we include AP cost RM10k and sales tax 10%. the price should differ by less than RM20k only! Japanese are really sucking our blood.

Honda has different AP price but the car will be likely in the range of RM120K~130K…

  • VW Polo / Polo GTI would be a better option.

    Cons:
    1. Better built
    2. More powerful
    3. More space
    4. Cheaper (Polo without GTI)
    5. 5 years warranty
    6. Four doors
    6. Brand prestige

More value for money getting the VW Polo if the CRZ going to be launched around RM110-RM130K.
