Suzuki Kizashi Sport: the new big cheese for Suzy globally

Suzuki Kizashi Sport: the new big cheese for Suzy globally

There’s a new global flagship model for Suzuki, and it’s the Kizashi Sport. The Sport model features a host of external and internal modifications, which include a muscular front fascia (with chrome accents) and lower grille. It also gets body side-sill extensions, lower body side mouldings with chrome accents, custom lightweight 18-inch alloy wheels and a unique sport steering wheel with contrasting stitching for its leather seats, gear shift surround and parking brake boot.

It’s powered by the 2.4 litre J24B mill, which offers 178 PS at 6,000 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm for numbers, mated to a CVT gearbox with manual shift. There’s also an intelligent all-wheel-drive system (i-AWD), which offers switchable 2/4WD; the car can be operated in two-wheel-drive mode, where drive is predominantly to the front wheels with minimum torque transmitted to the rear wheels – operation is via a switch on the dashboard and can be altered when the car is in motion.

Kit for the car includes leather upholstery, sports seats, electric glass sunroof, cruise control, an eight-speaker audio system with Bluetooth and USB port. Safety equipment includes seven airbags, ESP, ABS and EBD.

Considering it took them since September till now to get my warranty parts replaced, I would strongly recomend against buying Suzuki. The steering rack is a defective design which will needs to be replaced, it’s approaching 2012 and I have yet to get it fixed while the car is still in DRB Hicom’s service centre. The car only clocked 36K KM when the defect was detected.

Depends on your luck bro, my Optra clocked 250K KM and still running on 0w20 Amsoil, what kind of slop do u put in your Swift? Can it clock 12.7KM/L on a KL city drive? And your point is you’re lucky? Its a common car, the parts should be there, so what’s the point of buying a CKD car when parts are unavailable?

The Swift I have is a stock standard other than an option of adding a full Dynamat and a full set of MB Quart speakers and an option for a wider track tires on 15 inch rims. Its driven by my wife and does ony 15K KM per annum. There’s a bunch of them that is going for the repairs to me when things break down driven by a lady, that shows the car has poor design and build quality.

I rather put my money on an old Toyota Mark X rather than the new Suzuki Kizashi for the simple reason I know I am buying used, parts are easier to get because its been in the market for a while and I don’t get blown over the fact I spent RM130K for a new car with 3 year warranty and 100K KM but with no parts for what should otherwise be a common car. That’s just being plain stupid.

You are lucky. Most mazda 6 get the steering problem by the 2nd service.

It looks like playing in Accord/Teana/Camry/Legacy league. Normal 4WD/AWD vehicles have very good reputation of burning unnecessary fuel but this I-AWD sounds cool. Hope its not just marketing hype.

Precise handling & braking. Not the ‘acclaimed’ typical ABS, BA, EBD claimed by T, N, & H.

Nice Spec ! But it would be difficult to shake Suzuki small car image off consumer mind.
Convincing Malaysian cosumer to a “Big” Suzuki would be a uphill task.
Unless able to offer close to Sonata 2.4 price tag.

How come it’s not available here? Suzuki has no confident to face the competitor or there is no demand here in this segment?

      • Actually, DRB-Hicom already bring 100 units to Malaysia during this year April. It’s only for those “datuk” and the price is selling around 150K to them. As far as I concern, I believe this car is priced in between below 140K. I have see and inspected the real car by myself. It is really build up to European demand and which is I can say not bad for that kind of price. It has PU feel for the dashboard and the door panel. It come with 10 speakers and 1 mini sub-woofer and together with the head unit is made by Rockford Fosgate. It’s come with H.I.D xenon headlights, 18 inch yokohama tyres. Ermmm let me recall again what else it has… I can’t remember much lol! Anyway, I love the instrument design and colour! I owned a Suzuki SX4. It doesn’t give me any problem also and yet I always drive fast too.

I can say, any Japanese car will not have a problem for parts replacement in Malaysia-lah. Can anyone name which Japanese company of the car company have difficulty to get the parts? Hmmmmmm… I really wonder.

Even I though will be a doom when I change my car windscreen due to crack by highway cruising. I did get the parts as I ask and I get it immediately. LOL! Price? Below RM 600 including installation. That’s all information I can tell for now :D

        Cheers! Peace.

This car will face difficulty finding owners in malaysia, i reckon. Malaysians prefer bigger car with smaller CC. This car is a C++ segment car, hard to compete with Camry/Accord in terms of cabin size.

However, i must say that the chassis is very well built. I drove once for a road trip which consist of Highway, town road and curvy roads in regional area. The handling is just fantastic, the ride is firm yet comfortable, precise and stable. European ride and handling i have to say. I drove a Holden Commodore for road trip before too, a saloon with 3.0 litre engine, yet the ride and handling sucks big time compare to Kizashi. The difference is just significant.

Never drove an Accord nor Camry before, so no opinion on them compare to this car.

Finished drive-experience with the Teana 250XV & Accord 2.4. Have to admit that Kizashi’s handling is precise & sharp. FC is also awesome compared to the latter.

Surely its in D-Segment, despite its short wheelbase. All in all, you’ve gotta test drive it once available at showrooms; as it is really awesome. Beats T,H & N in most aspects.

P/s: N’s bodyroll was extremely horrible, but kudos for the 4th gen X-CVT by Nissan.

Try mazda if your concern is handling job. If it can beat the 6 then you call it good handling.
