Saab selling off its Trollhattan museum vehicle displays

According to a report, bankrupt Swedish automaker Saab is auctioning off its vehicles on display in its museum in Trollhattan. The company is selling the classic displays online, after failing to find a buyer for the entire collection. The collection is now closed except to serious bidders, with the cars available for viewing online.

Bidding on the vehicles closes tomorrow, UPI reported. A total of 131 vehicles are up for grabs, from the 1946 Ursaab, the first Saab ever produced, to modern prototypes. Also on the list are a blue and yellow 1960 racing Saab as well as a 1981 Turbo 900 “Silver Beast,” which was custom-equipped for James Bond, replete with bullet-proof windows and tires, tear-gas ducts and a “SAAB 007” license plate.

Wow, such a shame, SAAB is finally dead, nobody wants to revive the brand, nobody even wants to buy the collection, too bad they made good looking cars nowadays, remember the Aero-X? it looks awesome as hell….!

Why is SAAB dead? lack of promotion/publicity/brand power?

actually. it’s due to bad management and selfish Protect US brand (chevrolet, cadillac) power mentality. after taking control over saab in the late 80’s all they did was basically steal ideas from saab (saab was one of the most advanced carmakers at that time where they were a pioneer of the turbocharged engines and using front wheel drive to good effect) and put it inside their junk american slabs. Having done so, they did not even bother inventing any new technology for saab and thus the company slowly went down the drain. Lack of brand power, truth be told, it was brand power and the great publicity it had painstalkingly built in the early days with its association of the Saab Aerospace company that actually helped to keep the company surviving until today. There aren’t any other carmaker with such a huge loyal fanbase such as Saab (with the exception of Proton i guess) but then alas huge sales are not done by selling to fans only. Total pity as the Saab 9-5 was one heck of a good looking car and the Saab 9-3 was even better. The company was about to be sold to a China carmaker but GM blocked it as they were afraid that it could affect sales of the own marque (that’s how much they value saab but they were too dumb to keep it profitable) and they were not willing let other people have their technology (i wonder what tech though considering everything GM makes is outdated). Another great carmaker dead. NO MORE GM PRODUCTS FOR ME. R.I.P Saab for now. Hope you all would be able to find a better owner in the future.

Oh my that’s really terrible to hear…….

I was thinking SAAB could’ve been what Peugeot is right now in Malaysia, a bombardment of marketing frenzy by Naza, reviving the brand back to it’s glory days. I mean just look at the cars, they’re gorgeous….! And SAAB designers are world class, many2 beautiful concept cars and production cars designed by them.

Last time I remember, sex sells..!

Well, that’s it then R.I.P SAAB, at least Volvo was saved by Geely, so the brand is still alive as we know it..

Thinking about it, what the heck is wrong with Swedish automobile companies?

They concentrated on what they can do best. VOLVO Trucks wasn’t sold to the Chinese and they are the world leaders in heavy lorries now.
