Nasim donates Peugeot 207 SV to charitable organisation

Nasim has donated a Peugeot 207 SV to Grace Community Services, which runs orphanages and provides food banks to the poor. The donation is part of Nasim’s collaboration with The Star for the publication’s Bid & Win Charity Series, which concluded recently.

The charity series – which also had UOB Malaysia as a partner – was an extension of the English daily’s Bid & Win promotion held last year in conjunction with its 40th anniversary, with the grand prize for that one being a Peugeot RCZ. Readers of The Star were required to submit Star Points to a list of charities that had been identified by the publication during the initial Bid & Win promotion.

Grace Community Services runs Rumah K.I.D.S, a home for orphans, abused and neglected children, as well as a centre in Kuala Lumpur that provides food, medical care and counseling to the poor, a nationwide food bank, a home for destitute women and welfare services for senior citizens.

Its chairman, Dr Henry Pillai, said the 207 SV would provide much needed transport for its administrative staff, who travel to Grace Community Services centres nationwide on a frequent basis.

“We have two orphanages in Klang and two in Subang. These orphanages have a total of 70 children. We also have a nationwide food bank which feeds 6,000 people every day. So our administrative staff need to travel often,” he said.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, Nasim is proud to be involved in this effort to offer a helping hand to the less fortunate. We believe this donation will provide Grace Community Services some assistance in carrying out its charitable activities,” said Nasim COO Datuk Samson Anand George.

    • Read the article please!!! The chairman already declared it’s for admin staff to travel to their service centres. Maybe before this they have to use their own car/transport

sooo.. it really helps out the admin staff to go to n fro.. oh.. ok.. now thats TOTALLY different. hmmm.. so what do the kids out of this again?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
        • the kids gain from their administrative work being done more efficiently with a car for the admin staff to use to get around. it is not a direct benefit to the kids but an indirect one but it is nonetheless, still a big help to them. so, there. this is what the kids get out of it. but if you’re so concerned about giving the kids some direct benefits, why not you go and visit them and perhaps give some goodies yourself? if you are already doing it, then good on you. if not, perhaps, it is time you stop being so judgemental and just be happy that a car is given to a charity for the betterment of that charity… regardless of who gives it.

Not true. The volunteers have their own transport. It’s better to use a runabout owned by the organisation when driving around doing work FOR the charity.

    Hello..

People donate also complaint complaint complaint.
They donate their own ‘money’ at their own cost.
    At least they donate.

And more importantly, have some respect for people who work for charity organisation.
Some of the comments here are very insensitive and irresponsible towards them.

I understand where u’re coming from… n i don’t think ur comment is targeting just me. That being said… i’m all for corporates giving to charity as it should be part of their social obligation n responsibility to see others less fortunate to share in ones wealth.

OK… here’s an idea. Why not these corporate goodie2s just put an extra effort to think what kind of gift is appropriate to really help these kids. The company could easily auction of the car n the proceeds given to the centre or the cost of the car in the form of computers n iPads for education. They could also have given a bigger Pug 5008 which at least seats 7 people which might be more practical in ferrying these kids. They could work with others to give the kids vans instead of a sedan. I’m just saying its good if they want to give… i sincerely hope they don’t stop… but a little more effort needs to be given to the approprateness and practicality of the gifts. We just don’t want the gifts not giving real benefit to the intended. Just my two cents here.

Uda, this was coordinated by The Star. Why don’t you just appreciate the gesture as is? Called them ‘goodie2s’ and degrading them doesn’t help and is condescending to say the least.

At least someone’s doing something and we should let this spur us on to be more charitable. I’ve been to this particular home and they’ve already gotten vans from Jusco. They need a runabout for administrative work as they have several homes. Sometimes they need to help register a child at a school, college, visit broken homes, single mothers, etc.

Why don’t you give them a call, or any other home that’s close to you and see how you can help instead? That would be more helpful. Why must we judge these people for doing something? What have we done?

          • Couldn’t agree more to Baba O’Reilly. Why should we complaint and ask why not that and why not this…go and call the charity organization and ask them what they want…I believe the company have grounds when they give this car to them…

    Good effort.

The welfare of those admin people doing their job should also be taken care of. Not many of us knows how these kind hearted people sacrifice themselves for charity work, helping others and yet they are not asking anything for themselves in return. Having people like us, whom can’t do what those people so, will ease and help to motivate their work even furher.

How i wish that the AP tax of the car i bought also goes to charity instead of some Dato’ and Tan Sri’s pocket for their easy money….

it is good to see Nasim donating cars as part of their social responsibility, no doubt..
but what about the service & maintenance cost of these cars? Is Nasim going to cover these costs?

let’s face it, they are a business entity, and all their actions must come with business/returns in mind..
such ‘charity’ drive gives them a free marketing opportunity (coverage in blogs, news etc)..
