Peugeot is set to reveal how its next GTi incarnation will shape up when the 208 GTi Concept previews the next iteration of the type at the upcoming Geneva show.
The GTI Concept will be powered by a 200 PS 1.6 litre THP 200 engine, the same as found on the RCZ GT, and the mill will be combined with a six-speed manual gearbox. Some dimension changes coming in from the base 208 – the concept has a 36 mm wider track both at the front and rear to enhance the dynamic experience.
Elsewhere, the car gets a rear roof spoiler, and is equipped with all-round disc brakes, measuring in at 302 mm diameter at the front and 249 mm at the rear, replete with red-painted brake calipers.
Exterior design cues include chequered-flag motifs that embellish the metal mesh of the grille, and the lower bar proudly affirms its origin by displaying the French Le Tricolour flag or alternatively, the Union Jack.
Other items include double chromed exhaust tailpipes, aero lower bodywork spoilers and lower sill skirt extensions, and placed within the grille is a brushed aluminium GTi Concept logo that are also on the rear quarter panels – the mark is a salute to the car’s illustrious predecessor, the legendary 205 GTi.
The cabin, meanwhile, gets sports seats trimmed with Nappa leather on the outer section and cloth in the centre, with an embossed tartan motif, doble stitching and a leather head restraint completing the job. There’s also a red perforated leather steering wheel, which features a pronounced lower flat section and which carries the GTi Concept logo set in an aluminium ring.
Elswhere, the fascia capping is dressed in Alcantara with grey stitching, the roof lining is fitted out in black, while the centre console architecture and ventilation vents all feature a graduated red to black effect, with the chequered-flag theme again present on the aluminium door crossbars. Aluminium pedals and LED backlighting for the instrument surrounds finish the treatment.

Looks good, more up to date with Korean & Japs design-wise
for a small hatchback, super cool dash layout and instrument meter design.
pergh…
Peugeot’s intention does look more serious in this new car, unlike the half-hearted efforts of the previous Pug 206/207 RC. Coupled that with the premium look, VW should be wary now..
perghhh…. menarik, auto pls with paddle shifter
The cockpit really means business…
nothing beats the original 205gti, but still liked the refreshing look of 208gti.
Now,this is what I call improvement….newer generation Pugs are awesome!!
Long live stick shifters..
Wow suede covered dash like those found in supercars…cool…if it comes here, i bet it’s at least 180-200 but lower than rcz…
At first glance I thought its a hyundai !!
Walawei..terbaik!!
Looks production ready to me instead of concept… sweettt :)
This Peugeot 208 GTi definitely has the WOW !!!!! factor. Awesome !!! Make it real !!!
wow.. its handsome..
this is very nice indeed…
Pugs are getting better in all aspects…
thanks to Naza for bringing in competition to our one-sided car market…
Damn, great work Peugeot!
**Offtopic
Full production ready Persona R leaked at lowyat forum..
In terms of looks, the Peugeot 208GTi definitely blow the VW Polo GTi into tiny bits.
Really tiny bits.
The interesting question is can Nasim bring it here and price it competitively against the Polo GTi?
The power gap between both isn’t huge (just extra 20bhp in favour of the Pug).
Polo GTi got 7 speed DSG, whereas 208 Gti come with 6-speed manual.
The 3-door Polo GTi nett selling price is RM132,888*
If not mistaken, the previous Polo GTI was sold for much less.
* Price excluding registration and inspection fees, road tax, number plate and insurance.
at least with the peugeot 208gti, you don’t feel like you’re driving any other peugeot. with almost all the vw cars, everything looks 90% similar inside. you can’t really tell what you’re driving.
i’m betting some cash that nasim will bring this in….
This Peugeot GTi looks much nicer than the Polo. Problem is, its French and i am still wary of them after the problems I have with their previous cars. For me I’ll take German quality over French anytime.
Peugeot although not able to produce reliable cars have the nicest interiors
this is indeed true…look at 508’s interior, u know VW ain’t going to win anything!
Looks awesome. Enough said.
isay… use proton saga also can smoke one.. piece of crap
Yes! Agreed totally if the 208 GTi is stopped at a carpark, the Saga can zoom by at 10kph and still smoke the 208!
the saga is NOWHERE close in ANY aspect with the Peugeot 208 GTI or any Peugeot for that matter.
so okay-lah, bagi chan-lah….let the saga “smoke” the Peugeot 208 GTI.
*laughing hard at the Saga for thinking it could smoke the Peugeot GTI*
wasnt the “GTI” was owned by VW?? Why Peugeot can use it?? Correct me if I’m Wrong. .
nope. don’t think they trade marked the ‘gti’ nomenclature but it has probably been used even before the golf by other brands i think. just that vw made the badge famous.
unlike apple who ‘patent’ everything, guess vw did not patent/register trademark the name ‘gti’
because last time someone did mention that due to VW take the GTI,Proton can’t produce anymore satria with GTI in the name and other carmaker too…
Perhaps proton had ‘other’ reasons that are best known to themselves not to continue using the ‘GTi’ badge?
words on “GTI” trademark by VW..

If this is meant to continue the legacy of legendary 205 GTi, this one is too ‘soft’…
kinda too new edge for me but i guess it will sell well to those who want the latest in everything.
finally a good looking pug..
Looks waaaaaaaaay better than the new Renault Twingo RS
1.6 again? 205gti was 1.9!! come on peugeot…..
205gti’s 1.9 was NA. the 1.6 is turbo. short of cc but makes up in dollops of power and torque.
