Modenas launching new bike, brand ambassador tomorrow

National motorcycle company Modenas is launching a new bike tomorrow, as hinted by teasers released on its Facebook page. With the headline Pencetus Evolusi, the teasers show parts of the new kapcai (it could also be a scooter) such as the tail, nose and graphics.

The DRB-Hicom owned company will also unveil its first ever brand ambassador – who do you think he might be?

The Pencetus Evolusi teasers hints at an underbone that’s higher up in the food chain than Modenas’ previous launch, the affordable RM2,948 100cc KRISS MR1. The brand also launched the CTric electric bike last year. Anyone here with any experience with the rechargeable bike?

Bought the MR1 early this year.1 word = berbaloi for its price.
The price is very2 competitive. With the price, all china made bikes tak boleh cari makan due to their poor quality, after service & spareparts problem.
IMO, Modenas should step up & intensify its product range to capture more market share & further improve the quality of the bikes produced and priced competitively, bukan nak cari untung je.
In short, DRB-Hicom dah kaya raya dah bwh Tan Sri Al-Bukhary, xkan bisnes moto kapcai pun x bole makan competitors weiii……dah brape tahun dah modenas ni…

Maybe because nowadays Modenas rarely advertises their models except in motorcycle magazines like Kapcai and Roda-Roda, but rather promotes heavily in Malay movies especially those directed by Admad Idham like Adnan Sempit and Hantu Bonceng.

Not the Kriss, GT128 or CT series. In Greece the ‘Dinamik’ is very popular, a bike that is hardly known in Malaysia:

never understood why proper ‘geared” bikes never took off in malaysia.

    everyone rides a freaking kapchai.

come on, feel the joys of operating the clutch and snicking into the right gear at the right revs!

Modenas used to have 2 models with manual clutch – the Jaguh (5-speed) and the 2-stroke Dinamik (6-speed).

      no.

MODENAS = PROTON in the past .
proton modify many parts of mitsubishi
modenas also create most of the parts with kawasaki.

      not like rebadging
      NAZA BIKES = PRODUA
those 2 company do rebadging business.

I got myself a CTric. It’s very good if you’re aware of the limitations. Let me know if you want to do a piece. I believe it needs more support. Anthony has my contact details.

Please more details! How is the pick up, speed & range? How long does it take to charge the batteries?

    • squall_shinoda says:

Agreed… due to its limitation as an electric motorbike, CTric desperately needs support from everyone. The municipal authorities should provide sockets at motorcycle parking lots (free or paid, it’s up to them). Next, we need fast charging stations (and later more power stations) at least every 30-40 km. Then, motorbike shops should have a battery-swapping scheme similar like our gas cylinders (i.e. buy new batteries for their juices only and then return old batteries when buying new ones).

      Just my 2 cents.

Well again Modenas play on its normal territory – underbone. Hope not copycat from Indon or Thai Kawi. Come on Modenas, ventures into 250cc category or more. See how many Ninja 250 on road now? Get yourself their 2-in line parallel twin and chunk it to your own chassis n styling. If Hyosung can do, why cant you? If you want to make cubcai, then stick to cubchai. Maybe other 250cc or more brand can sell their bike much cheaper.

Modenas it’s time to move on……what the masses want NOW is a 150/200/250cc proper motorcycle not another freakin’ cubchai. After all Modenas should take advantage of the freakin’ high taxes imposed on CBU bikes….. A Modenas 250cc DOHC 30bhp naked / half fairing / easy rider/ race replica proper motorcycle for RM6,000.00 – RM10,000.00? I’ll definitely buy one…

Kapcai again?? Come on Modenas, bring on 250cc and 600cc bikes. Surely you can get (take) some from Kawasaki older platform like zxr 636 or from Modenas KR3. If Modenas could acquire zx636 platform and engine, upgrade the swing arm design like the 2008 and onwards zx6, good price positioning, it’ll be a hit.

Tagline ada word Evolusi tapi enjin xde evolusi langsung. Just take from Modenas Kriss 120 – and dats it full stop. (err old engine from Kriss 1 actually, just rebore, change cam and change carburetor from Mikuni to Spaco)
