Cheras-Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway tolls demolished, now only 1 toll in each direction!

Cheras-Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway tolls demolished, now only 1 toll in each direction! Two toll booths on the Cheras-Kajang (Grand Saga) Highway will be abolished as of midnight tonight. The abolished toll booths are the RM1 Batu 9 Toll Plaza, Kuala Lumpur-bound, as well as the RM0.90 Batu 11 Toll Plaza, Kajang-bound.

Take note that only one of the two tolls on each direction have been abolished, so the Kajang-bound Batu 9 Toll Plaza and the Kuala Lumpur-bound Batu 11 Toll Plaza will continue to collect toll, business as usual.

built in 1998 at cost of RM275mil, now being used by more than 180,000 cars daily… toll collection already surpassed RM600mil, while maintenence and operational cost is around RM150mil. profit already RM175mil… hurmm..12km road could generate such income in 10 years.. wallaaa…

this become ‘political’ because you simply accuse me a BN supporter when I questioned the above issue. bare with me for a while, I’m just a fence sitter and looking at both sides. I’ll talk about issues related to ‘motoring’ because that’s what matter to us here.
PR promised about Sg Nyior toll in 2008 GE, when they can’t deliver, they simply said it’s under Fed Gov. How come PAS could abolish toll on a bridge when they won Terrenganu in 1999 GE, but DAP couldn’t? is it because they refuse to pay compensation to the concessionaries? they should know how much it will costs them before making any promise!! now LGE promised to abolish tolls on PLUS and Penang bridge if they win 2013 GE… ask them whether they know the cost.
LGE also mentioned that PR would increase petrol royalties to oil producing states (Sabah & Sarawak) to 20% from current 5%. if they win GE as Fed Gov, most probably they win Sabah & Sarawak too due to this promise. with such huge payout, surely something has to give. will our fuel subsidy reduced? I wonder who will benefit most? the PR state Gov or rakyat? but, on another note, Anwar already promised to reduce petrol price (i assume by increasing subsidies) if they take over Putrajaya. so, will they increase other tax?
I just want to know how they plan to abolish all the tolls, paying huge royalties to the states and at the same time increasing subsidies. how they plan to maintain the good condition of Plus highway without toll collection is also a mystery. go around KL and you may see how terrible is the maintenance on free roads compared to tolled ones. all this will involve billions of RM.
I’m not just listening to their promises, I’m also waiting eagerly for them to show their plans on how to make all their promises a reality. how long will it take? will it be immediately or only when the next GE 2016/2017 is close?. if it’s ‘believable’ and acceptable, then they will have my vote.

yo Quantum Leap, what i meant for ‘fence sitter’ is too observe both parties and not just sitting in 1 side. if you put yourself too early in 1 side, you might not see what’s on the other side. u understand me?
i’ve never join any party and become hardcore supporter. the final verdict will only be made come election day. many other Malaysians are like me. sometime vote 1 side, and sometimes the other.
what matter most to me is the track record, not just promises. LGE/DAP must prove themselves first. now, where is the state-wide free WiFi promised in 2008? Penang state government continue to exclude three parliamentary constituencies held by BN MPs in its free WiFi initiative due to ‘limited funds’. they said the state resources were too limited to extend the service to Kepala Batas, Tasek Gelugor and Nibong Tebal. when PR make PLUS as free highway, will they put toll booths on entry and exit to BN states? how would u react if the BR1M is only given out to those in BN states?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
          • mofaz, your name already shows that you are pro-BN..mofaz…so obvious..
why would you question the promises made by pakatan? why dont you mention all the corruption and illegal money outflows amounting to hundreds of billions of rm each year? even shahrizat’s case is 250 million..and that is just one minister..shahrizat said its not just her but all ministers..imagine each minister has a 250mil project each..how many billions will that be?
pakatan made the promises based on it being able to plug all these leakages..by saving billions each year, of course they would be able to give back to the rakyat by abolishing tolls and increasing petroleum royalty..

There will be at least 3 tolls on that highway. Abolishing this 2 but compensate with 3 new ones soon. And don’t forget they can increase the toll price after every few years based on their toll contract.Who knows it will increase back to RM1.90.

Glad to see the government is sensitive to the public sentiment. If the government do this,I guess we dont need the opposition to look out after our interest.

Ever since the opposition have taken Selangor and having been living in PJ for more than 30 years,I have seen draconian approach by them in handling parking offenses. A 60 cents parking offense has escalated to a $100 fine that later turn into warrant of arrest. It was later I found out that Pakatan boyz outsource the collection to an outside agency ran by the PKR boyz too who gets to keep 30% of my fine.

I thought when we got them in power they would look out for our interest but instead they were looking out for their pocket interest.
