Mitsubishi’s Mirage compact is set to begin selling in Thailand starting from March 28, making the Kingdom the first country to market the global offering. After Thailand, the Mirage will be exported to ASEAN countries, then gradually make its way to Japan, Europe and other markets around the world.
The Mirage – which made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show last year – will be made at a brand-new third factory at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s Laem Chabang Plant, which is the largest MMC plant outside of Japan.
The Thai-market Mirage will be equipped with a 1.2 litre MIVEC engine, and will offer a fuel efficiency of 22 km per litre, among the best in its class, and above the Thai government’s requirements for an eco-car certification.
The five-door hatchback will be priced between THB 380,000 (RM38,000) to 551,000 (RM55,100), depending on trim level, and plans are to sell 2,500 units per month in Thailand.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Another MYVI me too design. Will be tough to fight in this category with almost every car brand having a model in this segment.
hatchback,4-four,4-Wheel…typical malaysian must relate only myvi, this Category of car is most famous on worldwide esp Japan & Euro, Every Car factory Eye-On this Big Market
wow…can it be priced at RM55k in boleh-land?
why not? but after a particular national make disappear from planet earth…
hahaha.i like the way u think dude
This car is to compete Honda brio and Nissan march, which is also from Thailand. However, since Honda brio and Nissan march is not coming here, I doubt Mitsubishi mirage will come here. U knows. Government wants us poor to middle income people drive national car forever. We have no choice and freedom.
well, this model is coming to boleh-land! Pricing abt RM65k…that’s what i heard lah from my Mitsu friend here.
wow,22 km per litre.Full tank can go 880 km assuming it has a 40 litre fuel tank.Proton rebadged this one la,,,economy and suitable for us rakyat,,,hhehee.
Yeah good idea, re-badge this one and grab some Viva/Myvi market share. I am sure this model will do much better than Savy.
mitsubishi motor had stated already. no more rebadged. proton inspira is the last one.
The lowest range is probably a Sutera/Viva-class vehicle. Both Malaysia and Thailand have been selling new vehicles of that class for many years at around 300k THB/30k MYR. And yes, most of them can travel about 800 km on 40 liter of fuel. So, it does not seem to be revolutionary.
There is a huge difference between Malaysia market and Thailand market. In Thailand market, it very depends on the economy and gasoline price. In the past decade, it is because of the taksinmonic, which is very benefit to the rural economy and subsidized diesel; pick up truck is the best selling. In this new decade, the eco-car incentive and first time car buyer’s scheme is introduced and gasoline price is much higher about bt55.39 (Ron 95). Therefore, there is no doubt; more and more city car or hybrid car will produce in Thailand.

just my two-sen worth… the profile looks a little like the Savvy. Is this a product of platform sharing with Proton?
It must be, perhaps they using Tuah chasis and technology
Unless proton selling some equity to Mitsubishi motor like cmc in Taiwan.
after 85% tax i doubt t can sell 55k here…. most around swift price i guess
with 55K ,we malaysian only can buy milo tin car, add few K might upto special edition :k
Back from Korea, SONATA YF selling 20,400,000won convert around RM 55,672.76, At this Price i might endup myvi in local
have u tried banging the tin milo actual tin milo onto your head and see which one is harder… i’d rather use the tin milo coz i know its hard…
cuz you head stupid hard as milo tin hahaha
May I know how did you came out with that 85% tax?
(AP-Kroni) + (Tax + hidden tax) + (Excise/s) + (Cabotage Policy + Shipping & Handling + Shipping Insurance) + (Bank Interest Rate + Bank Negara Interest Rate) + (Road Tax + Annual Insurance) = Malaysian Car Price.
Calculate it urself.
Given equation, (AP-Kroni) + (Tax + hidden tax) + (Excise/s) + (Cabotage Policy + Shipping & Handling + Shipping Insurance) + (Bank Interest Rate + Bank Negara Interest Rate) + (Road Tax + Annual Insurance) + RM50,000.00 = RM105,000.00.
Find the value of (AP-Kroni) + (Tax + hidden tax) + (Excise/s) + (Cabotage Policy + Shipping & Handling + Shipping Insurance) + (Bank Interest Rate + Bank Negara Interest Rate) + (Road Tax + Annual Insurance)?
http://www.maa.org.my/info_duty.htm
any car from Thailand will no be charge import tax but there will 75% Excise
Duties 10% sales Tax (proton also pay the same duty & tax)
if the price is RM 38k – 55k there estimated cost is around 20k-35k and after 85% charge by GOV cost for mitsu malaysia is 37k – 64k.
That why i estimate selling price is around swift price but i believe the most basic version will be cheaper.
Estimate selling price is 58k-80k depend on what spec mitsu try to offer at MY market.
may b e there’s a way.
if P1 rebadge this as savvy replacement, and price it below Myvi.
Well, there’ll be some risk of some bashers here will make noise, but it’s ok i guess.
Myvi is not purely from P2, neither…
proton saga HLX
22km/l, now tell me where prius C is relevant here?
The quoted figure for a Prius C in Japan is 30km/L, our 24 km/l for the prius c is an optimised figure for our conditions. Do you think a 1.2L with no direct injection and advance cam shaft timing can do 22km/l in our weather condition? I would be surprised if it does better than 16km/l
thai weather is our weather too (more or less the same). this car is manufactured in thai, not japan.
You forgot the Hyundai i10. They already do real 20km/l on real KL driving conditions.
potong satria punya atuk?
the rise of our well known…SATRIA!
Better don’t dream or think about getting this car in malaysia. Ha ha
somehow it look like the old hyundai accent.
why it looks like typical savvy from the back and side profile.?
Side profile more like Mazda2 to me. should be the same +- pricing as mazda2 then…
The side profile bumper reminds me of Myvi 2nd facelift…hmm very similiar
definitely similar to savvy platform, rumour from salesman proton also said P1 will come out with new 1.2 L … maybe from Emas or refresh savvy
wat a ugly interior !! i think i buy myvi better…

Will sell well because it is a Mitsubishi. Plenty of interchangeable parts from Proton or chop shops.
This would’ve been considered old hat ten years ago. I mean, come on, next to this, the new Nissan March looks downright cutting edge. And that’s not a good thing.
It looks like Suzuki Alto, might be same size.
Watever copy cat from other models; they are japs products. Similar to Ultraman. They have several version of them. The similarity is those lifelights with “klong klong” sound.
price s/b lower than vios, mazda2 and fiesta since it has lower cc. remember how MMM shocked us with the price of CBU lancer gt back in 2007? bring this in pls…
time for rebadge! new P1 model.
bring it here to bolehland, add variety to current market; viva, i10, alto, picanto, etc
22km/l – 1.2 litre…this car is better than viva 1.0 which can do 17.5km/l…
Coming to Malaysia, price will compete with Alto.
And to compare the spec list with 57k Myvi, Alto and Mirage are not worth it. Unless you die die wanna show support to boycott Myvi.
Somesource said Proton will KD its MIRAGE Engine to put in Proton small car project which shall be lanuched in 2013 year since Proton have done MOU with MMC. perhaps Thailand people will see Proton Eco Car for Thai marke in 2013 which the same engine with Mitsubishi ^^
Some source also said proton would use Nissan March platform and put its engine in proton small car project since proton had also done MOU with Nissan. No news about that because of the pricing factor. Same also with mmc.
heard GSC and this car share hell lot of component
Look like hyundai Getz facelifted.
Lame & Boring design, no wonder Mitsubishi need to sell the soul to Seoul.
EEEYYUUCCKKKK,IT SUPER UGLY……
a potential candidate for Potong Sawi
ugly..look like goreng pisang
but dirt cheap….
no matter how good the car, the bottom line is Affordability
how much is the car? or should the question be more accurately posed like: how much is the car price in Malaysia AFTER govt. tax?
ask yourself, do u really need a rebadged Proton while u can get a pure Mirage in malaysia? getting a rebadged vehicle doesnt make you feel proud and it different.
Dun wori. U can rebadged back to mitsu s wat people did to Inspira.
is this the result of the swap deal with the Lancer GT? Looks to me this is a proton savvy platform car!
Can anybody tell When the Mirage will be sold in India
