Youngman Lotus T5 – some photos of the SUV’s interior

You’ve seen the exterior of the Youngman Lotus T5 SUV, which made its debut in Beijing at Auto China 2012 a few days ago.

The interior was locked up by the time Jonathan was going about his coverage of it, but there was a small window of opportunity that presented itself when I popped over by the display as Datuk Syed Zainal was taking a closer look at the T5.

Youngman Lotus T5 – some photos of the SUV’s interior

Apologies if the shots aren’t the snazziest (or for that matter, that plentiful, but it was a quick burst on the cam and then off on the next dash in an attempt to catch as much of the show as possible), as well as for the time lapse in getting them up – it’s only now that I’ve been able to really start sorting out the 1,800 shots I took!

As for the T5, it really does look rather delicious in the metal, and the interior, based on the glimpse, is equally snazzy. Oh, as an aside, based on some of the comments from the Peugeot Urban Crossover Concept post, many will like what’s coming up next week – you can presumably guess what the post will be about!

nice design but i think the size is quite small because it is using Gen2 platform… just like crossover rather than ‘full’ size SUV. sighhh.. it could be better if they use Exora platform.

i just don’t get it, we are seating in a leaning position, so why the dash should be leaning olso?it will be hard to reach.stupid design

it could be for safety so your big head wont hit the dashboard easily, or the deployment of airbag could make ur ‘landing’ nice and easy

it could be because they try to make it to feel roomier and better view of the road.

and stupidly I ask, why do you want to reach the dashboard?

for centre console, I think it is reachable.

  • Nicely designed for the interior. A common sense really, something that proton clearly have yet to get. Utterly unfathomable.

no, no, no… i think it’s the mega-post of all the female models… as usual, lots of people commenting about the female model rather than the car :)

  • China Low Quality Cars on Apr 26, 2012 at 9:14 am

This will be bad for Proton. Collaborating with China, who are famous for their low quality, cheating and lies. Remember the tainted milk that killed so many babies? Or the tainted toys that made so many children ill? And when confronted, China tell lies to cover it up. Globally, everyone so scared to check and balance on China’s low quality and tainted products cause the market is so huge that the Western companies don’t want to lose out on this market.

    • my friend, i hv a feel that LOTUS is getting away from P1… attach to Chinese has better future! not surprise one day HICOM annouce YeongMan is buying over LOTUS?!

Here’s what i think. Lotus does not do these type of cars. They simply don’t. This is a collaboration between P1 n Youngman but of coz get tech exepertise from Lotus becoz P1 owns Lotus. Youngman would then prefer using Lotus name in the collaboration effort as it has more clout. Perhaps thats why DSZ is seen there n not Danny Bahar? Just my humble opinion but i may be wrong.

If they make it into Proton version, it’s the best looking Proton by far.

If they use foot parking brake, it would be nicer and complement the uncluttered dashboard and centre console design…

Please Proton, please bring this baby next year… :)

And to DSZ, please don’t dissapoint us again like what Proton did in the quality finishings of Preve’s interior. :P

  • Neat dashboard and ctr console, especially the gear stick. Fitting quality also looked neat from the passenger footwall up where most car manufacturer would neglect.

i think this looks fantastic…styling wise, inkeeping with the lotus apx concept..size wise, i think this is more of a crossover, thus, its just right…we’ll, im for one, wouldnt require such humongous MPV/SUV…this one shall do nicely..

maybe proton can repackage it with 5+2 seatings to broaden the appeal..

It looks great. Hope the quality is good too. i’m really thinking of changing my compact suv… the T5 is coming to China strreets end of the year so i’m hoping it comes to our shores by early next year!

If the engine specs could match Preve’s then u have a willing buyer from me. DSZ n P1 please don’t disappoint. :P

Despite being jointly developed by Youngman and Lotus, it has all the Proton feel in its interior. Look at the cheapo handbrake design and the same leather color chosen, similar to the one in Preve Sapphire as well …

  • This could be the new Proton SUV, judging from the design and interior wise is better sort out compare to preve. Anyway, let’s wait and see!
