Nissan names Johan de Nysschen as new Infiniti boss

Nissan names Johan de Nysschen as new Infiniti bossSome industry news – Nissan has managed to lure Johan de Nysschen over from Audi, appointing him as senior vice president of Nissan and the man to take charge at Infiniti. De Nysschen, who resigned from Audi last week after 19 years with the brand, begins his new job on July 1.

De Nysschen, who will be based at Infiniti’s new global headquarters in Hong Kong, arrives at Infiniti having accomplished sterling growth for Audi in the US during his seven year tenure as head of Audi of America – sales have climbed considerably and market share for the four rings has grown steadily during his time at the helm.

His appointment is part of Infiniti’s ambitious plans to expand its business in the midterm, over the next five years. It is targeting global sales of 500,000 units by 2017, or around 10% share of the global luxury car market, with the majority of numbers coming from Asia, the US as well as Europe.

This year, parent Nissan says the brand remains on track to reach a record 200,000 units in sales, and it is set to expand into more new markets. Malaysia was one of the more recent ones, with the brand arriving last October, and reports indicate that by 2016, the brand will be available in 70 markets, up from the 46 today. The model lineup is also expected to increase from eight to at least 10 vehicles.
