Renault Koleos facelift arrives – RM224k

TC Euro Cars officially unveiled the facelifted Renault Koleos last night, and the vehicle takes over from the first incarnation of the crossover, which made its market debut here two years ago.

The facelift brings about a revision to the front end, with changes being a new front grille and reworked headlights. The vehicle also gets new side mirrors, now dressed with LED indicators. The rear continues on as before, though a new shade called Cayenne Orange joins the exterior colour palette list.

Inside the cabin, the five-seater gets spiffed up with new upholstery and trim material – other changes include a new speedometer housing and display as well as subtle refinements to the dashboard and instrument lighting.

The Koleos available here retains the running gear configuration as found previously, with the Nissan-derived all-wheel drive, 2.5 litre TR25 petrol mill and six-speed CVT drivetrain continuing on unchanged. No changes to the engine’s output either, with 170 hp and 226 Nm on tap. While performance specs aren’t mentioned, it should be pretty much like before, where the numbers were a 0-100 km/h time of 10.3 seconds and a 188 km/h top speed.

Occupant protection features includes six airbags, load limiters for the front and outer rear seat belts, front seat belt pretensioners as well as Isofix child seat anchorage points on the outer rear seats.

There’s a change in the price too, and not in the direction earlier reported – the press release had the pricing for both the Koleos and Clio R.S “Ange & Demon” reversed, to put it simply. So it’s not the RM199.5k as mentioned previously, but rather RM223,810 on-the-road without insurance, an increase of RM10k over the RM213k asked for the original incarnation.

Nice to see a manufacturer slash the price of a facelift. Now if only others will follow its example and slash price for their facelift models WITHOUT cutting down on features!

It has to prove that it is better than the CRV, Grand Vitara, Santa Fe etc, that cost so much less…After all, the engine is basically a Nissan.

Renault oo renault. If the price is RM140k also very hard to sell. French marque has a very bad reputation here. Reliability out. Mantainance and spare part is very hard and damn expensive. It will take another 15 to 20 years to convince people here.
