Citroën C4 L – range-topping act for China and Russia

Citroën C4 L – range-topping act for China and Russia

Citroën is aiming to expand its presence in the global market with a couple of new models – we’ve seen the C-Elysée, and the second offering is the C4 L. The sedan is the first production Citroën from the Shanghai style centre, and is positioned at the top of the C segment.

Prestige is the name of the game – qualities to be found on this one include a range-topping finish, an exceptionally relaxing ride and standard-setting onboard comfort, the company enthuses.

Citroën C4 L – range-topping act for China and Russia

Interior features include a lounge-like rear compartment as the result of the long wheelbase, with wraparound seats, backrests inclined to 29° and headrests designed for added comfort being part of the parcel. Innovative technologies include hands-free access and start, touch-screen GPS, reversing camera, fully heated windscreen and air ioniser.

As for mechanicals, the C4 L will be available with three engine choices, these being the THP 150 and 170 as well as a normally-aspirated VTi 135. These can be paired to a new automatic or sequential six-speed gearbox. The C4 L is set to be manufactured in each of the zones where it will be sold, and this is Wuhan, China (by end 2012) and Kaluga, Russia (first half of 2013).

although the rear lights have some shadows of new MD Elantra, overall it’s still a rather good looking and handsome car, and it retains some quirky and unique design of Citroen cars as well. great job!

  • This is what the PSA calls B73, a twin brother to the locally assembled Peugeot 408. Looks better and more aggresive than the very2 conservative 408 though; with a hint of Hyundai Fluidic Sculpture especially from the rear.

I think that is a discredit to citroen saying that the french copy the korean. The rear is much nicer in the C4 than elantra

It should be well received in Malaysia, if there is a RHD version and if Brooklands could somehow bring it here.

If it is possible, just don’t bring it with the sequential gearbox. Either fully auto or dare i say, manual.

On another note, it is saddening to see the parent company of Peugeot and Citroen (i.e. PSA Peugeot Citroen) having a horrid time (sales-wise) due to the Euro economy crisis as they are churning out better and better car every time now.

  • Naza said they are going to bring in another brand to Malaysia soon, Citroen? Very likely it seems! Since they are full blasting the Peugeot now!

I think this look more male looking that Peugeot counterpart..

I know Peugeot and Citroen are under one roof does that mean any Citroen owner can go to Peugeot service center for servicing ?

Brooklands took the franchise back from Directional some 4-5 years ago was to improve on the sales, after-sales and service. And they have achieved that or at least very much evident during the time under the care of the then French 3S manager, Mssr Pierre Sarton. He was very helpful, efficient and swift hands-on with the repairs of mine l. Nevertheless, predently I have no complaints with their after-sales service now either as long as one discuss with the service executive on the waiting time, if not, it can be unnecessarily long or even have to leave your car behind.

As for the new C4 hatchback, it’s a total design with all components new. Quality and packed with features that you can find in upper end cars the likes of Volvo and BMW. My only negative review of the car is it’s sequential electronic gearbox which can be awkward to drive on low gears. Otherwise once it’s picks up, it’s extremely responsive in gear changing particularly with the paddle shifts.

As far as design and styling, you got to hand it to the French, they pull it off elegantly and quirkily. For this C4, I would say it’s one of the better design, quality, feature-laden, safety (5 star Euro NCAP) of its line. The former C4 version was really skimpy in features and quality although easier to drive and creatively-styled. (Regretfully, comparatively, it’s like a tin can.)

Looks good for a hatchback derived sedan, though I prefer the hatch (especially the coupe, the 5 door isn’t as nice). Love that curved rear window, nice touch taken from the bigger ones.

i personally think this model looks better then the current C4 hatchback version…looks classier with the back reminiscent of the latest C5.
If Nazim can bring in the Peugeot 408 meant for the China market, what is stopping Brookland?
