Ferrari online charity auction sees Malaysian bid €23,000 for F60 nose cone, wins

Ferrari has done this before, gathering its clients and enthusiasts to raise fund for a charity. Previously, it was for the relief efforts for the earthquake-hit Haiti. This time, it was for the victims of the Emilia-Romagna earthquake that happened on two separate days, May 20 and May 29. Many of the victims died at their workplace.

Ferrari held an online auction for two weeks to raise funds. Among the things sold were the 599XX, which was sold to an American for over €1.4 million. This very unique car will sport a special commemorative plaque signed by Chairman Luca di Montezemolo, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. The two drivers will personally deliver the car to the owner at the next Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

Another item that will be heading to the USA is the F60 nose cone; a Malaysian won the bid with a neat sum of €23,000. The winning bid for the engine from the F2008 Formula 1 car was €80,000; it will head to Great Britain. Other notable items that were up for bidding was Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa’s helmets and Giancarlo Fishichella’s racing suits.

Besides the auction, there were also donations being sent from around the world. The fundraiser managed to garner over 1.8 million euro for the victims of the earthquake.
