Mazda has realised that producing 400,000 Skyactiv engines is not enough. The Japanese carmaker has announced that engine production capacity at the Hiroshima plant will be doubled to 800,000 units per year in October 2012.
The plant, which currently produces the Skyactiv-D and Skyactiv-G, will double time to satisfy the increasing demand of cars that incorporate Mazda’s Skyactiv Technology. Mazda said that the increase in production is possible through the use of its ‘highly efficient flexible production system using multipurpose equipment’.
Mazda aims to sell 1,700,000 vehicles globally by March 2016; 80% of which will be made of models that incorporates Skyactiv Technology. Currently, the only full Skyactiv vehicle available in Malaysia is the CX-5 that we previewed sometime back.

Waiting for Mazda 3 to get this new engine
They should have increased the production! The current waiting period is 9 to 12 months for CX-5!!!!!!! Bloody hell!!
Boooooooo…….. Emo
Would like to see Mazda Malaysia to bring in Mazda 3 with Skyactiv soon.
wait till they launch the new mazda 6. if the design stick to the original takeri concept, they need to triple up their engine production.
Mazda rock!!!
Good good.. :)
Honda and Toyota-san should be worried.
Waiting Mazda3 Skyactiv launch since last year. Berjanggutlah tunggu
Mazda seems to be the most generous, in terms of specs, Jap carmaker in Malaysia. Keep it on.
BTW please do not change drastically the exterior design of the new Mazda 6, as the current one is the best-looking D-segment car in Malaysian market. It is more cantiq than a 5- or 7- series. Can make it bigger than a Teana?
Is the new Mazda 8 coming out soon? Please install ESP in your Mazda 8. Make its width 2000mm because I know you are not going to make it taller than Alphard; remember to make it longer than Alphard ok? Please retain the 2nd row superrelax ottoman captain seats. Superb. And you can sell it at RM210OOO.
This engine feels a bit anemic in the CX-5. The torque is just merely 198 and not enough to shift nearly 1.6 tonnes. My V70XC has nearly 300Nm and I still think it is just enough. Have to wait for the SKYACTIV-D 2.2L turbodiesel with 420Nm if wants a better CX-5. Doubt it will come to Malaysia though. The dealers here are awaiting for the diesel version which will come at a later date.
what is skyactiv? skyactiv-D, skyactiv-G? what’s the different?
D for diesel, G for petrol????
Mazda has got very advance in technology but Malaysia mind set still unchange, buying car not own satisfaction but always consider next buyer requirement (re-sell value).
