Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake

You’ve seen the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, here’s the AMG version. Powered by an AMG 5.5 litre V8 biturbo engine with 525 hp and 700 Nm, the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake does the century sprint in 4.4 seconds. At launch, there will be a special “Edition 1” with a massive 557 hp and 800 Nm of twist. Crazy!

The engine is mated to the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sports transmission. The gearbox has four modes – Controlled Efficiency (ECO start/stop always on), Sport, Sport plus, Manual – as well as automatic double declutching and Race Start function for the perfect getaway.

The AMG Ride Control sports suspension has steel struts on the front axle and air suspension struts on the rear axle, as well as automatic level control and an electronically controlled damping system. The latter has Comfort, Sport and Sport plus modes. The ESP system has three stages.

The AMG-specific front and rear axles with greater negative camber and optimised elastokinematics help to provide more stability and better road contact. The electromechanical AMG sports parameter steering on the other hand features a more direct ratio and variable power assistance.

In the brakes department, the AMG wagon has 360 mm ventilated and perforated brake discs all-round. The AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking system with even larger discs and specially painted brake callipers are optional. The car rolls on 255/35 R 19 tyres on the front and 285/30 R 19 tyres at the rear.

Besides the added firepower, the Edition 1 features designo magno allanite grey paint finish, designo platinum white pearl leather with metallised finish for the AMG sports seats, armrests, centre consoles and door cards. It also has AMG trim elements in carbon fibre/black piano lacquer, designo roof lining in black Dinamica microfibre and velour floor mats with designo leather surrounds and badges.

somehow i feel shooting brake suits the overall design of new CLS better than the 4-door coupe style. i like this interpretation more. now will we see a 6-series shooting brake? just saying….lol……

Now this is Merc’s AMG beast at it’s best.800nm of torque!Madness! You can put this grunty motor in a submarine and it will quickly..haha.

I briefly owned the classic 1993 500SL AMG while i was working the States those days,it was a lovely ride to drive, had to let it go due to urgent commitments, still miss it.And it was a rare stickshift version(manual)as it’s with most of the cars i owned. It had a stonking rowdy 5 litre (302ci) V-8 and went like a bat out of hell.

This latest AMG ride is superb nonetheless,i reckon it will cost a pretty penny if at all it reaches Malaysia.

    Cheers.
