VIDEO: Next generation Mazda 6 sedan sneak peek!

Mazda has released a teaser video of the next generation Mazda 6. The upcoming D-segment Zoom-Zoom sedan is pretty shy in this video – we only see shadowy glimpses of the car’s sexy design cues, all based on the Mazda Takeri Concept which we first saw at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

The Mazda Takeri Concept is the third interpretation of the Kodo (or Soul of Motion) design and is an evolution of the Mazda Shinari concept. The Kodo design has also spawned the Mazda Minagi concept, which went on to become the Mazda CX-5 SUV. Given how similiar the Mazda CX-5 is to the Mazda Minagi Concept, we’re expecting the production next generation Mazda 6 to be a real looker!

Click here to check out how the Mazda Takeri Concept looks like and read more about the concept, which featured some interesting bits such as a SkyActive-D 2.2 litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine an an i-ELOOP regenerative braking system.

Looks like it’ll be similar looking to the CX5.The headlamps somehow reminded me of the BMW F30 3-er.

      Never liked mazda.

Their designs are mundane at best,
      neither here nor there affair.

They should make up their mind and have some character and identity.

If there are no mazdas on the road,
no one would even realised they are gone.

      shitty…

    Inspired by BMW 3-series headlamps.
The current Mazda6 is a real looker, the best among all D-segment cars. So, don’t change too drastically ya.

Make it bigger than other D-segment cars ya. Currently, it is the smallest.

I’m not sure what the point of that is. It’s like putting a Proton in a box. Do people get excited by this?

  • What an absolute beauty! After looking at this car, Sonata looks like an old granny with serious sagging face.

If it looks anything like the stunning Takeri concept, it would be a real looker on the street.

Its an interesting preposition for punters now. Spearheaded by the Sonata and Optima, we have now Mazda and Ford’s own new Fusion/Mondeo coming in soon.

Normal family sedans just got looking amazing. It seems that manufacturers have finally clued in that normal sedan car buyers deserve something that looks more exciting. Even the current C5 and 508 is quite pretty.

  • It’s good looking no doubt, but they should make the engine more powerful to be commensurate with the look. I would prefer turbo over skyactive…

very nice car…..hopefully the production model stay close to the concept, similar to what they did to CX-5 from the minagi concept.

    • This car is going to be revealed in metal (the production version) at the upcoming Paris Motor Show 2012 from September 2012. Think it will come to our shores much earlier than 2014. Just look at how much time we have to wait for CX5 to arrive here after it global launch.

there’s not much to shout about with the design, but it is amazing at how they re-engineer cars with skyactiv technology (reduce car weight, add strength, improved economy, improved handling, more efficient engine – better combustion, more power but economical, lower emission and especially the new torque converter which made their conventional auto tranny feels like dual clutch gearbox while giving excellent FC similar to CVT)

  • The Lexus will last 100,000 miles more than a POS BMW SUV. The X5 and X3 have bad ratings and suck ovaerll. Convince her to buy a BMW M3 sedan if she is paying that much for a car or an Infiniti G37. I think the Infiniti FX35 or the FX50 SUV is really nice and looks better than any other SUV and there very reliable.
