Boon Siew introduces the new 125cc Honda Future

Boon Siew Honda recently unveiled what it calls “Malaysia’s first long-distance moped bike”, the Honda Future. According to Boon Siew, their new kapcai is capable of traveling a maximum distance of 338 km on one full tank of petrol (5.6 litres) in the ECE40 Mode, which is best in class, and 100 km more than what the Wave 125 X Ultimo can do.

The Future is powered by a new 125 cc air-cooled engine. The four-stroke SOHC unit has 7.6% better fuel economy compared to the Wave 125, it is claimed. The Future’s rated 60.3 km/l is a 0.5 km/l improvement over the older bike. Quite substantial.

Other key features include the 19-litre U Box that can fit a full-face helmet, a side battery casing for easy access, push-seat function and automatic key lock shutters. The Future also comes with rear LED lights, a blue-lit speedometer and a fog light.

In line with its role as a “long-distance moped” the Future has a wider seat, and the clear distinction between rider and pillion translates to better long distance comfort. A molded front design that eliminates the use of screws reduces vibration and sounds from the front cover.

Boon Siew introduces the new 125cc Honda Future
Three variants are available. Variant 1 features an electric starter, spoke wheels and front disc brakes, Variant 2 gets sports wheels, electric starter and front disc brakes, while Variant 3 combines the electric starter, sporty wheels and front/rear disc brakes. Choose from Coral Orange Metallic, Pearl Magellanic Black and Euphoria Red Metallic.

Priced from RM5,578 to RM5,998, Boon Siew expects the Future to be as popular as the amazingly evergreen EX-5

Earth Dreams Technology trickling down into their moped range huh? Very impressive FC figures indeed. Now we wait for their new Earth Dreams car engine range to reach our shores, based on the first 1.6L IDTEC released in Europe, it’s a proper cracker with amazing FC too. Sad we can’t see that till our diesel gets to euro 4 at least.

Do yr homework 1st. Honda do hv a model that can compete with Yamaha’s LC, its called Dash. even though its cc is slightly lower than LC, but is sporty as LC.

This Future is to compete with the likes of Yamaha’s Legenda. They are to cater to more mature & senior buyers.

You know, as in Vios vs City & Camry vs Accord.

    Negative

    1. Old design
    2. Overprice
    3. I don’t like their futuristic name (Old design after all)
    4. engine capacity not match with the price!

On the positive note? I ain’t find this bike worth for me to buy.. Sorry Honda.. I don’t like to make comparable hence this topic is all about Honda Future..

      Anyway..
      1. If it ain’t broken why fix it.
      2. No one forces you to buy.

if only this country public transport is world class like Taiwan or japan or usa or Korea then this country wouldn’t need motorbikes,,,as a car driver,I find motorbikes to be pest (road pest),,,Korea n Taiwan which was slow growing behind us in 1997 today have went forward n ahead from us despite not having natural resources to back their economy,,,their handwork n determination to succeed n very minimal corruption practice have make them to be more successful n more people orientated than us,,,,today Korean cars are thousand times better than proton. how could they do it with out natural resources such as petroleum, gas, palm oil, timber, rubber, tin mining n many more,,,,if only We have a well spread n organized n efficient public transport then We wouldnt need motorbikes (kapcai),,,the death occured by motorbikes could be drastically reduced n mat rempits n snatch thefts could be stopped once n for all. this is a rich country but due to poor distribution of wealth n corruption,,,We still see the need of motorbikes. poor planning if townships n cities also leads to this. n now crime rate is increasing with attacks in mall car park n isolated places like what happen in publika car park earlier this week n so on,,,I witnessed a snatch theft two weeks ago when an old lady was walking out of kopitiam n two guys on motorbike sneak out on her n drag her with her handbag n until she let go n they left with her handbag,,,this thing never came out in the papers,,,it’s is a shame a rich country like this,it’s citizen feel like they are living in third world environment,,,first world infrastructure, third world mentality n quality.

fog lamps on a kapchai? are you sure Danny?

what is the purpose for? it is never safe for a kapchai rider to ride through thick fog that such equipment brings no purpose.

i heavily doubt it is fog lamp but rather just a position lamp that first started in Honda C90 of early 80s, then later Honda EX-5 and now almost all kapchais including Yamaha LC135.

Better i go for GT128 because GT also a touring bike by the name GT (Grand Touring).. I think the fuel consumption is more better than this bike… And the bike is so expensive.. Another the meter panel is not much as GT128 that have trip meters, eo changing indicator, rpm meter… Honda want to duplicate the GT128 but it can’t… Go Modenas, Modenas more better than Honda… Go travel for long distance is much better with the GT!

3.Tak suka jenama mtosikal ni–aiyoo..you prefer what? honda skywalker?
4.LC,Gt128 is so much better- Each bike have their own advantage n disadvantage
5.Honda future bkn dreka utk brlumba- I think mat rempit should buy the 2stroke machine( if u rich la)
    6. Just like what mr Shurako said earlier- honda xpnah duplicate Modenas punya teknologi..so? Dont talk like badass before you feel like dumbAss

each bikes have their own pros & cons, though i’m not a fans of Honda, but i have to agree that Honda has made a good work with these new models with new approach by making a three variants in one model, the fuel tank also slightly bigger than the Modenas CT110 (i have Modenas CT110) which has 5.3 litres tank, so i must say this one can travel slight further, and the design was not too ridiculous, it’s fundamental and that’s what the Honda was always was…

But still i prefer my Modenas CT110 over this one…

    Pros:

    1. Body design, not bad.
    2. Front & rear disc brakes.
    3. U-box, the main reason I bought it. The other is fuel consumption, but ……

    Cons:

    1. Lemau, first to third gear quite versatile but something not right in fourth gear (matching/tuning). Achievable top speed 100km/h. Overall my previous EX5 was much better, except handling.
    2. False claim of fuel consumption. Actual 3.2ltr = 100km or slightly over 31km/l in normal/city ride. A 100% highway at 70-80km/h around 35km/l. Comparatively FC is almost equal to my scooter LC135.
    3. Activate choke after several hours of stop/overnight (cold start), just like engines of 1970s. Not a fuel-injection.
    4. Engine vibrations at 90-100km/h. Suzuki Shogun continuously smooth from 0 to 115km/h.
    5. Foot rest should be at least two inches to the front for comfortable long journey.
    6. Chromed gear & rear brake levers. Why not blackened them to match the engine & stands?

    Conclusion:

Relatively expensive – not value for money. A product by Honda that is well below expectations. Menyesal trade-in my Shogun for Future, actually Return to the Past!

people who are using car to go to work more likely to die first but before they die they will suffer from mental illness like depresion and manic depressions cause everyday they all have to tempoh traffic jam at least 2-3 hours on road maybe 12 to 20 years everyday will make thier brain, heart stress so they will likely die first.
