BMW M Performance Parts for the F30 3-Series

Got an F30 and want to pimp it up? You’re not limited to ware from the usual suspects like AC Scnitzer, Hamann and etc any longer. BMW has been watching customers retrofit sporty bits to their cars for too long and decided to capitalise on it. In response to the tuner brands, they launched the BMW Performance brand that offers mostly look faster but some go faster bits for their cars.

Above is a newly released video that BMW produced to showcase its BMW Performance parts for the F30 3-Series. One advantage with going for BMW Performance products is that your factory warranty remains intact, and you if you spec your car at the point of purchase with BMW Performance parts, you’ll be able to lump the accessories into your loan. We did exactly that when we purchased an F30 BMW 320d Sport Line recently for company car usage – we specced a BMW Performance Alcantara steering wheel with it.

There are loads of other parts, some pretty substantial such as a Brembo big brake kit with painted calipers, which also call for a wheel upgrade as for most of the models sold here in Malaysia the stock wheels won’t clear the big brakes, which are 370x30mm sized on the front axle and 345x24mm sized on the rear axle. Tey are cross drilled and grooved, which will help reduced water build up between the brake pad lining and the brake disc surface.

Other usual suspects are M Performance carbon fiber bits for the interior and exterior as well as a gloss black kidney grille. At the F30 launch in Malaysia, there was an F30 kitted out with a partial list of parts on display. A full list of parts are available here.

  • AFAIK some of these M Performance parts can only be fitted to the F30 M Sport version. The said version is still not available in Malaysia. For a starter the front M Performance aero parts cannot be fitted as there are meant for the M Sport version. The M Sport front bumper & air dam are different from the Sport & Lux line. The M Performance brakes system is available for 18″ wheels & above. Malaysian’s F30 / 320d comes with only 17″. F30’s owners are well advised to consult BMW Malaysia before ordering parts. Perhaps Mr Paul Tan can enlighten us as to when BMW Malaysia will launch the F30 M Sport version. Some say Q1 / 2013 & I only believe when I see one in metal. Cheers mate!
