Production of the new cee’d Sportswagon has begun at the Kia’s Zilina plant in Slovakia, becoming the second new model to be built at the facility this year. The Sportswagon is the estate variant of the second-generation cee’d hatchback that made its debut in Geneva this year.
Demand for the new cee’d Sportswagon, previously known as the cee’d SW, is expected to boost production at Zilina to 285,000 vehicles in 2012. The previous gen cee’d SW represented more than 20% of the site’s overall production. This year Zilina has produced 167,000 vehicles and 266,000 engines in the first seven months, recording 11% and 52% year-on-year increases respectively.
“The cee’d Sportswagon is an important addition to the Kia range in Europe and we have been preparing for its production throughout 2012. We are confident that the Sportswagon will prove very popular with European customers and help the Zilina plant in meeting its production target,” said Eek-Hee Lee, President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia.
The Sportswagon boasts a load space of 528 litres, or 1,642 litres with the rear seats folded. It is otherwise similar to the hatchback version, which you can read all about here. Kia is also preparing for the launch of the new three-door pro_cee’d, which will begin production in early 2013.

awesome… proton shud learned from kia..
I’m so proud with Korean cars. Way nicer than the Jap cars.
I love kimbab more than Korean cars.
But for me GG girls always make me wanna.
This is how far the Korean company has leapt…where is Proton?? Just forget the rebadged companies like Perodua and Naza…
nice design!!!
Wow, now this is one fine looking wagon ya. :) The lines looks so sporty and taut, very Euro looking indeed. :) 2 thumbs up for Kia… they’ve indeed ‘arrived’ and they’re more than adequate to do battle with the best of the Europeans…
Seriously, if we cover the badge, can anyone swear that they can tell this is a Korean product? LOL :)
Toyota hopes to recover some ground with the new Auris… but seriously, the new Auris still looks quite boring and it still looks like a rubber ‘door stopper on 4 wheels’ LOL :D
And with Toyota’s insistance of going Hybrid and thus putting their top of the line model as a hybrid, it’s going to kill off whatever driving fun the new Auris have in the chassis. Their top of the line gasoline engine option continues to be the average 1.6L dual VVTi 1ZR-FE.
The Japs is still not quite there yet in terms of styling excitment.
Sigh… whatever it is, we will never see the Cee’d nor the Auris in this part of the world. they’re Euro market only offering not meant for the rest of the world.
much better than the crap new civic.
wow, so sporty wagon, when will it be here? Koreans are improving so much, Proton still sleeping
Malaysians don’t like wagons. They usually demand sedans, so that is what they get.
The first gen cee’d sportwagon was already a decent car, driven that one before. Not as good as the Contis, but quite close, and a whole lot cheaper.
I’m amazed at these Korean fan boys…the Ceed estate looks like a fish with part of its nose and lip chopped off. Please bring it in Naza Kia, we’ll see how many units you can sell :P
That’s what many Korean haters said about the Forte when it was first launched.
Naza should price a right model properly and throw in lots of value, and we’ll see.
Hei ! You got the look but do you have the touch ?
Anyway, I have my reservation for Naza coz they screw-up my previous KIA….
proton shud come up with preve wagon or
aeroback ala audi sportback…
this car looks osom
i’d have one
wagons are very practical
proton shud come up witha preve wagon / sportback ala audi a7
both with proper hassle-free flat folding seats ,which also reclines for long journeys…it wud be osom…
Is Osom related to bosom? You mean the Kia looks like a bosom?
Nice design but the quality….crap! Look at Korean cars here. Korean cars are alwiz over rated.
You have no clue. The cee’d is superior to the Forte (which isn’t that bad already), and a rather decent car. The last gen gave me an almost conti-like feel. Something Japanese cars can’t do. Even the LS200h feels a bit cheap and tacky at times (though it is of course superior to the first gen cee’d, there is no doubt about that).
