This funky-looking people mover is called the Daihatsu Ultra Functional Compact (UFC) Concept, and it’s another debutant at the ongoing IIMS in Jakarta.
It’s a six-seater study that Astra Daihatsu Motor says it has taken the lead in developing, using Daihatsu’s expertise in compact cars. But while designed along the lines of a compact, the B-pillarless vehicle features a large interior and a versatile seating arrangement.
In this case, both the second row and third row seats are fully electrically-powered and adjustable, in the sense that the second row units can slide forward to the point that they can be “stacked” directly behind the front row seats, and the slightly-raised third row seatbacks can fold down, offering a high degree of functionality and cavernous cargo space, if so desired.
Elswhere, rear sliding doors offer ease of ingress and egress. Aside from all this, there’s no mention of any specific details, like what powertrain the UFC has, nor are any figures touted. Reports hint that the exterior lines of the study might be how the next-generation Xenia people mover – currently in the market – or the Avanza will shape up, and that a production version should be a seven-seater. Maybe we’ll see it come to fruition next IIMS.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
could be the new alza..yeah!! :D
Imagine when this car turned turtle. Without support from the B-pillars, the roof will simply cave-in, squashing everyone inside.
Dun wori lah. There are already few models without B-pillars. eg. Toyota Isis
Yes, but it takes quite some effort to produce a B pillar less car (think some Merc Coupes… CL etc.). B pillar in the door is used by the Ford B-Max, and that is a safe car, however again, that isn’t so easy to do, and it will probably also increase production costs.
obviously they incorporates the B-pillars into the doors..
dude.. read properly..
Daihatsu UFC “Concept” breaks cover at IIMS
Boo freakin’ hoo.
Based on that logic, people should never buy convertibles, shouldn’t ride bikes and baby shouldn’t be put in strollers.
A tall car like that or a family car / people carrier to be exact, Is driven slowly and not 180km/h. Even so, the only way to turn it turtleback is to drive into a cliff.
The doors would be the strongest point to ensure the car’s rigidity. You don’t have to be a car enthusiast to know the science of a basic car structure
Uhm… Myvi?
Looks like future MPV. Nice and hope Perodua will produce it.

didnt all of u realize that look likes perodua Bezza concept car especially on door feature????? hurmmm…. :\
Well, the fact that Perodua uses Daihatsu platform, is that so surprising that the Bezza concept was from Daihatsu???
hahahaha….Bezza in Daihatsu disgiuse…or was it the other way around???….
I want to place booking now! Joking…
For parents with young kids, the space at the back when the 2nd row seats are pushed all the way front is a winner. Of course driving style will have to change so that the kids don’t ‘buang’ here and there. This is a family car. Easy entry and easy exit is what young children and old seniors would apreaciate.
Then people should have bought more Kangoos. The sliding doors on it are awesome and extremely practical. Yet it didn’t sell good enough for TC to bring in the second generation. The Kangoo and other Kangoo style cars are quite popular amongst young families all over Europe. But they are apparently not good enough for the Malaysian market…
One more important thing… with young children, at least when they open the back door, it doesn’t slam into other cars cause it’s a sliding door.
Is it the perodua bezza (KLIMS 2010)?..yet I saw new myvi(yellow) beside the concept car..
ya.. perodua bezza.
Very well designed Daihatsu!!! Now, please move beyond Concept and Build it!!!
I really like the stacking chair but I wonder if they can make it firm enough for Malaysia road? With all our potholes and rough road, the chairs will be shaking loose in no time.
I doubt they will be comfortable. Been used in many concept cars, but I don’t think this style of chairs was used in any production car, ever. Expect it to be replaced for conventional ones once the car reaches production.
And finally after a year launch…. The southern neighbor can buy Myvi SE 1.5 with Extreme bodykit!

It’s the Sirion Sports, and the post on it is up. :)
